I guess that the source has been deemed unreliable since this information doesn't imply the PS4 version is better.

If people think that one version is better than another, it will always have a bias based on that persons particular interests. THat's the problem with ANY information found on the internet, including Digital Foundry. Someone has to pick what is good and what is bad = Bias.

Eh what? It's not bias to show specific differences that are scientifically measurable. It's quite another to blabber on about default color settings that can be adjusted at any time as if they were set in stone and otherwise sound biased with elements that are not measurable. Hypothetical parts are the worst, like the 'framerate drops'? They weren't recorded, yet still mentioned as if they were a legitimate concern. It's like the daily show's observance of the fox news use of the question mark. 'Video games, do they make your children rape animals?' Stupid. In any case, the chief issue is the wasted power from the ps4 here. A competently coded ps4 version would be far superior, but Madden fans generally don't care anyway. Every Madden player I know is just getting it on 360, and a few ps3

EA may want to do something shady like that since they best buddies with MS right now....but I doubt the NFL would allow the game on the best system, both hardware wise and in terms of marketshare, to be sabotaged due to MS. So EA Tiburon may be a shade more familiar with XBone than PS4, hence the differences, however subtle.

I'm not sure if the NFL would care that deeply about the details. I don't know how seriously they take the game franchise, but I feel like their biggest concern is the game selling millions, and if EA can promise them that while still slightly gimping a version on MS's dime, then it would make EA a winner on 2 fronts and almost like they're recieving 2 fatass paychecks. I wouldn't put it past a publisher, especially EA, to pull some crap like that. Regardless, it has already been well established which of the 2 consoles is more powerful, and there's no way in hell anyone can convince me that a game like Madden is so demanding that PS4 can't run it as well as XBone because of cloud BS or something like that. They tried to pull that crap with Titanfall, and we all witnessed how that went down.

NFL is very touchy feeli about their image and how they are precived. Shit like this would not be tolarated for one minute. They got enough issues with out the whiniest people on earth turning on their ass and declering social media war.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. EA wants people to be paying for their new EA Access bs. So they could easily not improve the PS4 version of games and get away with it. All while hoping that people start to notice and switch to Xbone.
