This been bugging my for a while ever since that Pokemon Card Game was announce for ios, what excatly is the relationship between The Pokemon Company and Nintendo. Do Nintendo own the Pokemon Comapny or is it more of a super tight partnership?

Nintendo created it and they own the Pokemon IP, so I guess they own them, but don't quote me on that.



Nintendo created the Pokémon Company to manage the Pokémon license. Basically, the Pokémon Company is nothing without Nintendo, but they are also very important to Nintendo.



TPC are a first party with second party privileges, they're solely there to manage one IP but have much more freedom in doing so then most studios, they're also free to create other games if they want. Think along the lines Yuji Horii's Armor Project who have their own freedom in handling DQ but are exclusive to SE.
