Not trying to say anything here, but I haven't heard anything about Nintendo Network being down and that doesn't really mean they have the best online infrastructure

According to OP's logic, it does.

PSN still needs to improve their infastructure to compete with XBL. PSN went down for almost the whole day while people on XBL didn't have any trouble outside of a few people (which happens every now again on every network). Those "hackers" that did this can easily do this yet again if they want to. With that said, I hope they get caught.

So because PSN was attacked along with Battle.net, but Xbox Live was not, that makes it a stronger infastructure? How do you get to that conclusion?

It wasn't a hack, it was a DDoS attack. It was specifically done to a few services yesterday. If they had chosen to attack Live as well, it would also have gone down.

When was the network down? I was on it all weekend......did I miss something?

PSN used to be free and you get what you pay for. I guess the only thing they changed for the PS4 is the price.

Add me if u want :)

I think it's just the store that was down. Regular functions continued as normal. I was able to watch Hulu and the WWE Network during it all.

short sided OP when the reason is involved.

Nope. Xbox live is simply a closed up network compared to PSN. More secure yes, but a DDoS attack does not put anyone's information at risk. I wouldnt trade the ability to, for example, play FFXIV and TESO with PC players in a bigger community for it.
As another poster said, Nintendo Network didnt get downtime aswell. Does that mean that its better? Your logic is terribly flawed.

I will live with the occasinal down time from a hacker group attack that will end up behind bars, if i end up with a better overall service.

Oh okay well the OP made it seem like the entire network was down. I was online playing games all weekend and on Hulu and Netflix as well. So I didn't even know anything had happened.

The one thing I learned is that online only games need to go, or at least have somethin I can play locally offline. So I picked up Plants vs Zombies on ps4 yesterday. I boot the game up and I know it's an online only game, but I read it has 2 player split screen wave after wave game mode. Almost everything on the menu says you need to be signed into PSN. I literally bought a game that even though it has local 2 player split screen against enemy AI; I couldn't play it without being signed into PSN. I could play all my other games even the free ps+ games, but the way popcap and EA did this game is just wrong.

This is exactly why everyone was afraid of the DRM stuff Xbox one was trying to do check in every hour to see if your license is good, etc, so even a single player game it could potentially kick you off if your internet is down. No game should be dependent on being signed into the network to play, especially if it's local gameplay that shouldn't require an online connection

I hope Sony can fix this sort of problem much faster next time.
