Hate to say it, but after RE:UC, HOTD just looks and plays like ass by comparison.

And for the record, I was a huge HOTD fan back with HOTD2 on the DC.

Really?  I was wondering how they compared.  If they don't compare to RE:UC, then I don't think I'll get them.  But I'll keep an eye out for HotD4

ive played through HotD2 over a dozen times since it hit in 99 or 2000 (including once fairly recently).

it's one of my top 20 favorite games.

I've played through it at least 30-40 times over since I owned it on the DC. I've even modded the DC lightguns because they sucked too badly.

I'm a huge lightgun fan, and it's only with the utmost sincerity that I say that RE:UC is a superior product to HOTD2, 3, and 4 (which they moved to the Time Crisis machine gun formula, for some idiotic reason).

As for whether or not to get them, that's really a question that can only be answered on a player by player basis. Some people love lightgun games and would buy one just to have more levels to go through and more things to shoot at (like I used to be). If that describes you, I'd say give it a rent first.

Keep in mind that it's always a possibility that they botched the ever-loving hell out of the Wii versions of these games. Sega has done some shoddy ports in the past and this one has "quick 'n' dirty port" written all over it.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

The Wiik in Review said that Sega is adding something extra to it but did not say what.

Probably the same kind of stuff as they did with Ghost Squad, online leaderboards and the like, some bizarre alternate mode (like the bikini girls mode in GS). Hopefully an online co-op/contest mode. I wish they'd just stuff HotD1 in there, too. I don't care that's it's painfully primitive compared to the others, I'd rather have all three. Also, I knew it was modified port of the Xbox game ages ago.

@smash_brother

but does re:uc have that amazing HotD2 dialogue and vo work?

"the state of the city is increasing!"

I can safely say that RE:UC's dialogue is better delivered but just as cheesy.

Stupid lines sound so much better when they're delivered with inappropriately high amounts of enthusiasm.

^^

you, good sir, are correct.

im getting this game, i really dont care about graphics, the only problem is why didnt they put HoD 1 in it too?

It'll still be a fun game, it's just that I think RE:UC delivers a superior lightgun experience.

However, if they introduce a "paradise mode" for this game as well, I'll be buying it in a heartbeat.

Replacing zombies with vacuous bikini-clad women stumbling up to you and trying to chew on your face would be the epitome of "lulz".

They might as well call it "spring break" mode and have piles of beercans everywhere to explain why the women move and act like zombies. :D
