Forums - Sony - Sony should publish physical copies of their biggest indie games.

Should Sony help the biggest indie games get physical releases?

Fuck yeah. 58 74.36%

Nah. 20 25.64%

Total:78

I'd love these if:
1. Either the difference in price is rather small to begin with, or:
2. Give us exclusive perks (like OSTs, figurines, design books, game guides, etc.) to compensate for the increase in price. And, as a bonus, attract those who already bought the digital version and would like the goodies.

i think i would rather have an "indie collection". Rime, Wild, Tomorrow children all in one box for 49$ that would be epic.

Would be good BUT it would probably ramp up the prices.

Having it cheaper OR having a physical edition.... hmmm....

Do we even know that Wild isn't supposed to be a retail game? I mean people are assuming it, but has that ever been officially stated?

I mean, Sony is already publishing Infamous First Light on disk, so surely it wouldn't be a logistical or financial nightmare to publish these games. It's a win-win situation in my opinion.

Not retail where I live so it doesn't count.  I hope this does eventually get a US release because otherwise I'm not playing it until a friend purchases it.  I could always import it, but then I'd have that Europe rating on the box. Although I'd consider purchasing it if it gets a Japanese release in English.  I'm pretty OCD when it comes to my collection.

It would be a great idea, though I have no idea how much it will cost releasing these games physically. If physical releases raises sales significantly enough to offset the cost and then some, then it will be well worth it.

Only if it doesn't up the price.

They could but I don't really see the point. I guess there are still people who avoid buying digital games, especially after that PSN hack issue a few years ago, so it would be good for them.

I like the idea. In fact I think that Sony and other publishes not willing to dedicate expensive retail space gives some audiences the impression they don't believe it to be a high quality product themselves. I think at prices from 19.99-59.99 it could really resonate with consumers. It's just a bluray. Sony manufactures them they may as well give themselves something to print since movies haven't been the most successful.

A fair amount came out on last gen, only way they will come out this gen is if the game is really, really big and already sold a ton, so I would guess oddworld would not make the cut(wayyyy to niche.)

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
