Forums - Gaming - Xbox boss on Uncharted: I wish we had an action-adventure game like that, but we don’t

Why don't they make one then? If they can get developers who come up with stuff like Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive. Why not make something in the same genre as Tomb raider and Uncharted as an exclusive Xbox franchise? If Microsoft had a similiar attitude to Sony and had loads of high quality first party exclusives (and variety). It would make getting an Xbox worth it. Buying multiplat games doesn't really do anyone favours

I hate comments like this because it seriously comes off as if they think gamers are stupid.

The game was coming to 360 and XBox One regardless if they did this deal or not. A 360 and/or XBone gamer gained absolutely nothing from this deal.

By doing this deal they gained one thing. Sony console owners can't go play the game. So honestly, how is it not about dropping millions so they can't go play the game? That is exactly what it is.

Game releases on PS360, sells better on PS3. Games re-releases on PS4 and XBone, sells better on PS4. Common sense tells you the game is coming to PS3/4. MS pays millions so that the best selling consoles for this title do not get it.

Seriously Phil? We know full well that is is exactly what you try to say it isn't, so please do not be disengenuous. We get enough of that in this industry.

These comment annoy me and make me dislike someone. Now I know Phil seems like a good guy, but as usual he is just a corporate guy who speaks to his consumer base as if they don't understand what the hell is really going on.

Just because he makes a ton more than me doesn't make me an idiot.

He says they do not have a game like Uncharted. So after all these years, why not create one instead of spending money to take it away from people expecting one?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Da hell? Unarted isn't an action adventure, its a shooter...

gears of war, vanquish... those are shooters. from start to credits all you do is shoot and progression is based on how well you can shoot and avoid getting shot at.

Uncharted or tomb raider, those are action adventure games. There are sections where you have to shoot, but there are also platforming and puzzle sections too. So if you can't do the platform bits, you don't progress if you can't figure out that puzzle, you don't progress.

Thats the main difference between gmes like gears and games like uncharted or tomb raider.

Well lets call it an adventure shooter. ZELDA is an action adventure, ur taking cover way too often in UC for it to simply be an AA. And those platforming bits sucked.

So what other reason could there possibly be for making the deal on a game that was going to be on XB1 anyway? oh right... dropping millions of dollars so sony fans cant go and play the game.

If you read the whole interview you he actually tells you.  You do not have to believe it but he does give you an answer.  He even says that they were approached by SE with this deal.  Seems stupid for MS if you have the money not to take it especially if it fills a gap in your lineup.

If you read the whole interview, he actually spins a lot.

So it was something Square Enix approached you about to see whether you would be up for it, essentially?

Phil Spencer: You've got to remember, we talk all the time. '09 was the first time we had them on our E3 stage. They were on our stage this year. They were on our stage last year. We've worked with them for many years. So it's not even like a conversation that's new to us. We've got an ongoing relationship with Crystal around this franchise.

Systems Owned: PS1, PS2, PS3,PS4, Wii, WiiU, xbox, xbox 360, xbox one

LOL, I didn't read the article because the bow in the image is totally wrong. Barely any curvature while drawn (btw, why have it drawn while moving?) and all that string? That's not a functional bow.

You did but how is problematic not bad? Care to elaborate?

If you really like Uncharted try GA but dont expect to much its the worst game in the series. But you wont miss alot if you skip that entry.

In my opinion

Uncharted 1 - 7.5/10

Uncharted 2 - 8.5/10

Uncharted 3 - 8.0/10

Uncharted GA 7.0/10

Btw

Do you know the feeling when there is a song you "like" but it gets played on the radio all the time until its fucking annoying? And you start to hate it? Thats happening with Uncharted/ND and me. The games are okay but all the "naughty gods" bullshit is so annoying that I cant help but start to dislike them simply for their fanatics. Its a Yin & Yang thing. Eveytime there is way to much praise I have to balance it with some reminders of how reality looks like.

Lol.. Who made you an authority on what "reality" is like?  Lmao.. Your reality sure is foggy because ND games from Uncharted to TLOU has been received well by both critics and consumers and has won a bunch of awards, like GOY, etc.. It's worthy of its praise but "you must balance" the world because you don't agree.. Bwahahaha...

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

Action adventure is action adventure. If there were guns in zelda I am sure you would have had to take cover too.

And as for the platforming bits.. well, you can say they sucked but thats in your opinion. I personally think they were great cause Uncharted mixies the platforming with the action sometimes. Like jumping from moving truch to moving truck while also taking cover and lining up sight lines.

As long as action becomes necesary to the progression of an adevnture game then it becomes an action adventure. Doesn't matter if in one you use a sword and in another you use a gun, if that were the case I could say Zelda is an Action slasher because you use a sword way too often in it.

An example of a pure adventure game would be Ico or Journey as there is practically near zero combat in those games.

Good points! But I still consider UC more of a shooter adventure than anything else. The shooting was interupted by the occassional platforming and puzzling, and there wasn't any exploration (worth mentioning)
