It's a amazing that such a flawlessly put together film could be made for 39 million, while mega budget 100 mill plus movies can have cringe inducing effects (I'm looking at you Phantom Menace)

I know, it's pretty unbelievable.  39 million for that movie is crazy.  And the cast was so good, puts some of those Star Wars movies too shame (not the old ones :)  ).  Comedy, action, drama, and just fun.  Maybe they got lazy because they were already insured of getting crazy profits?  lol

this'll be pretty controversial, but when firefly first started I watched the first few episodes, and really did not like it. weird thing is I love sci-fi and Space operas....I guess I'm just not a Joss whedon fan.

QFT, I don't think anyone could reasonably expect it to get the numbers Phantom Menace got, but it could have done a lot better than it did, especially for a film that got a 75 metacritic average...which for movies isn't too bad ...although I'm sure most here would agree it deserved better.

One of the reviews on metacritic actually said point blank that its better than ANY of the recent Star Wars films and then proceeded to give it a 70....sounds like he wasn't too fond of the recent additions to the series =P 

I thought the movie was terrible. I remember my parent's rented the dvd awhile back and I just borrowed it from them and watched it. I'm felt glad that I didn't actually pay to see the movie, because I would have felt so ripped off if I had. Terrible, terrible movie...

Firefly was also great well worth a watch.

I think promoting it by saying from the creator of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel was a bad move, it no doubt appealed too many but would of been a turn of for a lot more,

I don't know if I would say that The Sarah Connor Chronicles is good, but it is entertaining in the "it is so bad, it is good" kind of way.   

Firefly was a great show.  I am kind of angry at myself for not watching it until after seeing Serenity.  If they did make a sequal, I'd see it opening week.   

Firefly / Serenity = awesome. Great premise, great cast, great writing. Fantastic stuff.

The only people who liked/payed to see this movie in the theater were Firefly or Joss Whedon fans. It's like watching a Star Trek film if you never saw the tv series, you don't give two shits about the characters. I tried watching it but couldn't get into it, contrary to what most people say, I thought the dialogue was bad and the one liners were lame. As mediocre as the Star Wars prequels were, I'd rather watch Hayden Christensen try to act than watch Serenity again. Summer Glau is money though, she was the best part of the movie.
