Forums - Gaming - Discussion on Lans/companies that put lan events together.

Hey all,

I have had several lan events over the years. Been to many and hosted many. I know it's a lot of work to put together and a lot of work to get sponsors for the event. I was wondering what experiances and opinions you all had with lans. What was your favorite, your least favorite? You ever put one together yourself? If so you ever get sponsoring? What was that experiance like for you? What was your best experiance with a lan that you didn't host? Have you ever used a 3rd party company for a lan? If so how was that experiance? What do you think of lan events compared to Arcades? Know any Arcades that hosted lan events?

I got inspired for this discussion by a friend of mine. She and her husband are throwing a lan even together.(https://plus.google.com/u/0/104319381715716070447/posts Yes they leagally changed their last name to Belmont when they got married.) Anyway she asked me to get the word out about this company they are using https://plus.google.com/u/0/106556928734251814287/posts I've never heard of em so I figured I'd ask you all if any of you had any experiance with them. If not and you used one like it in the past who did you use? Anyways she asked me to spread the word so if you guys use G+ and ya like em then follow em/add em to your circles and + some of their posts if you don't mind. Personally I'm more interested in a discussion on lans with you all.

I used to with my half-life/counter-strike team.. I was also a good quake 3 player..
They aren't as popular nowadays cause of the highspeed internet we nowadays have.. Its fun bringing your computer in.. Trying to hook it up, share illegal files like music and video.. Its pretty much a saugage fest with the exception of the lost gf..

I guess it depends on where ya live but around here over the past few years I've noticed the famle population at events increase. The last one I attended had about equal parts. Yeah counter-strike was big back in the day I really miss those events. Me and my old team #sand got to CAL-I. Might have gotten to CPL but got busy with school and work at the time and then both leagues shut down so that really sucked. Pretty much stuck to console gaming after that. Still a great lan game. Also goo to bring a bunch of different consoles and a friend of mine would even wheel in 2 street fighter arcade cabinets. Was always a good time.
