As much as id like to agree with you guys, seriously... come on. I own a Wii, i love it, i will likely NEVER buy a 360, and the PS3 is a ways off for me.

However, nintendo's software sales SHOULD be alarming to anyone who backs the Wii.

Wii Play & Wii Sports are terrible to track as "software sales" compared to the MS games.... Wii Sports is a pack-in game for christ's sake, and Wii Play is almost the same price as the controller it comes with.

The Wii is in desperete need of quality 3rd-party games with "adult" or in-depth story content. how many party games and shovel-ware can you eat?

I mean... in the end, you cant help but begin to get jealous of COD4, Halo, Mass Effect, assasins creed, Gears Of War, GTA, etc...

And no, not for the HD graphics....

Right now the only company putting out games of any serious involvement is nintendo themselves (TP, SMG, MP3)... but those franchises are now all out... so whose gonna fill the void?

There is a damn strong argument in saying that MS is (so far) dominating the sales chart with quality games purchased for their content (and not because they come with a game system, a controller or the zapper)... and even more importantly, that many of those games are a result of third party support.



Nintendo is seriously not making any real effort to pull in serious in depth invetsment from third party developers.


i mean... rayman 2? heroes 2? fun games... but what a joke.

The article was about the Wii's ability to pass the 360 before June in the US market. While games will definitely play a role in the continued high demand for the Wii here in NA I really don't think it takes a genius to realize that supply is the issue. Quite simply, if Nintendo can ship enough units to pass MS before the end of June they will probably meet the goal.

Realizing that point, your arguments are fairly irrelevant unless you are going to make the case that folks will suddenly  stop buying the Wii as a result of your "observations". Barring that unlikely catastrophic turn of events for Nintendo it seems it will come down to a simple matter of can they ship enough or not?

Also I feel your opinion of Wii games is held with at least some amount of ignorance about some of the upcoming titles, Claude has highlighted this point above so I'll leave it at that. Now, while there is a solid case to be made that the other consoles are receiving more games along those lines right now there are quite a few in development for the Wii as well. But more than that your opinion of the games that don't match that "hardcore" like criteria is precisely that...your opinion. There are plenty of folks who find those games (the "casual" games) to be the major appeal for the system and not the types of games Claude was pointing out. It is of course fair to say that we are all entitled to such opinions but really there is no place for personal opinions in objective analysis.

Also LionBalls forgot to mention that 360 has been in market for 2 year + couple months and Wii for 1 year + couple months.

He should compare games sales from same timeframe of consoles life.

And too bad that you can get or will get those games in his example for pc anyway.
