This thread has convinced me to think seriously about getting Knack. Unfortunately unless Sony breaks its own rule of only putting 70+ meta games on free PSN+ it will not come to PSN+. Which means I will have to buy the game. But with only 6 months of PSN+ behind me I have so many games to get through i can't see myself actually buying any games other than the ones about which I am uber-hyped, like The Order, UC4, Dragon Age. So I may never get to play Knack unless I see it for $10 somewhere and I happen to have $10 in my wallet I don't know what to do with.

I really think it will come to + one day. I'm sure Sony have already put games with a lower meta on already, as well as the brand new games like Resogun and kind of Driveclub where they didn't even know what the meta would be when they put them on.

But yeah it is definitely worth a try, maybe not at full price unless you are really into platformers but if it is on offer and cheap it is a really fun game

Oh I like a good platformer. So, how does it compare to the best of Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy?

Reviews really aren't everything. There are plenty of average games that score highly and plenty of good games that score low. Maybe it won't be for everyone but there's no reasong a game that scores 55% can't be better than one that scores 93% to at least some people, perhaps even many.


Totally agree with you. Knack is aimed at people who love mediocre games, and it is perfect at that.

Sales don't make a game better. I would argue that many PS4 folk bought Knack out of desperation of games and you fell for the "but it's not that bad" game complex people get with bad games.

here's a very opinionated micro-review:

Story: 5/10
Gameplay: 1/10
Style: 5/10

The story is fine, if it wasn't filled with so many damn plot holes... This irritates me greatly

The gameplay lifts directly from other Sony franchises. Not to mention it has a constant issue of slowdown-death. The game isn't very responsive at all and it was very unimaginative in parts. It's a puzzle game that tries to be a platformer but fails in both aspects.

Style: It was a horrible art direction. Personally i believe the game would have looked better with a cartoon filter. Something Ni No Kuni like

Mario on the other hand nails all these categories with higher ratings. Nintendo has never made a platformer that isn't bad. Had consistent replay-ability and a defining art style that looks even better in HD.

I usually never tell people their opinions are wrong, but in this case, knack is so bad it's on Duke Nukem Forever's level of bad.

For experience I've enjoyed playing games with a lower than average score and low commercial success, so I respect the OP for that. If that is his own experience that matters, why judge? I think people are feeling too insecure. Hold to your metacritic scores and sales, the OP is holding to his experience. Simple as that.
