Forums - Gaming Discussion - Weekly XB1 overtaking Wii U thread: WIll it happen this year?

Who will be on top when January 1, 2015 arrives?

Wii U 810 89.40%

Xbox One 93 10.26%

Total:903

Hyrule Warriors is on the list .. can you not read? Amibos is hardware (does it have a release date)? And I've not seen any update on Toad release date other than it's 2015 in Europe (WW?)

Multiplats will push XB1's, they will just push more PS4's. We know that by how well they've already sold.

Captian Toad is 2014 in US/Japan, Europe is the only place it got delayed. Amiibos are scheduled to launch alongside Smash Bros which has a Holiday 2014 release. Hyrule Warriors will sell based on being a Zelda spinoff not because of Dynasty Warriors.

Oh my bad, I thought Captain Toad was delayed everywhere. I disagree on Hyrule Warriors, it has to sell to both fans of Zelda AND the DW franchise. Very limited audience.

Zelda has a limited audience? And Dynasty Warriors is still a big franchise in Japan.

Zelda fans are not going to buy a Dynasty Warriors game if they don't like the franchise. And judging by preorders Hyrule Warriors isn't exactly setting the Japanese charts on fire. Zelda U and Smash Bros. Those are the only real system sellers left.

Well, considering Dynasty Warriors hasn't traditionally been on Nintendo consoles, it would be hard for Zelda/Nintendo fans to dislike the franchise if they've never played it, really.

I for one had never even heard of Dynasty Warriors, but Hyrule Warriors is currently my #1 most anticipated game. And it's pretty clear a lot of people are really looking forward to the game as well, going by the amount of attention and articles it's getting everywhere. What it will end up selling is anyone's guess, but it doesn't look like it'll flop.

And saying Zelda and Smash are the only system sellers left for Wii U is exactly the same as saying PS4 only has Uncharted 4 and Destiny, or X1 having just Halo MCC and Halo 5. Just because they're the biggest and most talked-about doesn't mean they're the only games people buy a system for.

Not really. Watchdogs gave PS4 a bigger bump than MK did WiiU. Eveything else that has released on WiiU has done nothing hardware wise, so yes, Smash and Zelda (and even that isn't going to be big) are WiiU's only hardware sellers left, PS4 is going to have multiple games that will shift significant hardware, most we don't even know about yet.

Of course Nintendo could bring something out for WiiU that could be a system seller, totally believeable. But from what we know and can guess, all there is is Smash and Zelda.

Hey wasn't the WiiU supposed to sell 700k the week Mario Kart released?

7m the week of MK I believe?!

I just can't quite grasp how (after everything we've seen) people think WiiU can compete with a system that has full third party support and despite summer lul (which nearly always happens) has the support of the public. Lest we forget XB1 overtook WiiU in the US in a matter of months, and UK in 2 weeks. The west is on board with XB1 and sales will pick up late August onwards. Won't be anywhere near PS4, muliplats won't shift anywhere near as many XB1's as they will PS4's but that doesn't mean XB1's won't sell well, people can't seem to understand that.

WiiU, with that release list I just posted above, will appeal to Nintendo fans and nobody else. Why do they not get this? The proof is in the pudding. MK Q shipped 500k, amazing YoY, terrible number on its own.

Outside of Nintendo fans, nobody seems to be interested in WiiU, last 20+ months have proven that.
