Forums - Gaming - Only a third of steam users run their games at 1080p

Most PCs are not made for gaming and just cannot run games in 1080p, especially all APU systems without a dedicated GPU.

Next time post his  pic

then laugh cause he completly ignored the last setting at 25%..

So we don't give him hits on his website..

Next next time post the link to the steam survey

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

then laugh at the people that don't understand that the last option is for Mulit-Monitor-Desktops, meaning that 25% of users that have multiple monitors run at 3840x1080.

The original point of the writer of the article is more or less right, if you add it up then about 36,5% of steam users have a primary display resolution of 1920x1080 or higher.

Its actually 61.9% running 1080p or HIGHER

Fail article and Fail Thread

Actually the 25% at the bottom are for multi-monitor desktops, for the primary desktop only 36.5% have a resolution higher then 1920x1080.

Fail comment I guess.

But we don't know how big the percentage of steam users with multi monitors is, so the fail comes right back to you. :P

The steam stats have always been skewed towards laptops, low end laptop gpu's being the most common is proof of that, it isn't that laptops are the biggest portion of gaming platforms mind, its just that pretty much anyone with a laptop as well as a PC will install steam on their laptop, too.

more often than not, laptops usually run around 1366x768, so there you go.

It's like comparing games purchased on psn/xbox live to the total number of accounts, rather than the total number of active or subscribed (ps+/xbl) accounts, you'll just end up with a horribly skewed result from all the empty/idle/useless accounts, just like using the steam survey data will just get you a whole bunch of laptop data.

Personally I wish they'd use GPU/CPU data to divide the stats up between desktop and laptop, would make for much more accurate results.

yep I got steam on my laptop and gaming rigs.

I play the odd old game when I'm bored and on the road for work lol.

Yeah wait this is completly pointless, theres no percentage for how many are single and how many are multi monitor users, so we effectivley no nothing about how many percentage of PC gamers are running more than 1080p or more.

Arent stats great.
