Forums - Gaming - soo... when are the games coming out?

RubberWhistleHistle said:

bold: well i guess im living proof that your philosophy on that is 100% incorrect haha

and i take issue with you saying gamers are luckier than ever right now.. gamers are being givin games that require an online connection. do you know what that means? that means in twenty year, they are not going to be able to replay those fond memories they had during childhood or whatever years they were playing that game. unless of course there is just a remastered version of it later which will then be outdated at some point. we are also encouraged to unlock things within a game by paying for shit rather than playing the game thoroughly and being rewarded that way. these are just TWO things, but i can sit here and type all night reasons why gamers of this day and age are not lucky compared to gamers of the past. i am so incredibly thankful that i didnt grow up on this crap that they have been trying to feed us in the 7th generation.

You mean the same way you can't play duck hunt anymore because LCD/LED/Plasma tv's don't operate in the same way?, and how most modern tv's don't have an analog tuner anymore so you can't use consoles that output over RF?

You act like games of old are playable in their original form unconditionally.

Yeah I guess AC:U, Far Cry 4, DA:I, COD:AW, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors are nothing.

Great lineup for a launch year and it's going to be even better next year.

Pretty much.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Well enlighten me then oh great one; What sets the first year of PS2 so wildly apart from the first year of PS4?

Clearly the crimson tint of the narrow focus optics.

umm.. sure, you can say we have plenty of games that come out but when a ton of those games are yearly releases, what exactly is that? i mean really? if we got destiny every year, smash every year, mario kart every year, a watch dogs, a far cry, a titan fall, a donkey kong, along with all the other yearly releases that are here, would you be sitting there saying "oh we we have so many games coming out this is great"

thats pretty much how i view yearly releases.. theyre shovelware, really.

A game is a game, your complaint is where are the games coming out, the games are there.
The issue is entirely yours.

I'm a happy that the gamers have come out in full force to dismantle the skewed logic of the OP.

For reference, I have in previous gens owned (when they came out, not as retro consoles): NES, Genesis, PSOne, PS2, XBox, Gamecube, PS3, 360, Wii.

And for someone like me, the kinds of statements in the OP are cringe worthy, because they:

1) Reappear every gen

2) Are completely at odds with history

3) Have no basis for existing since the expectations that shape them are utterly unrealistic

4) Usually contain (very) overly dramatacized statements like (direct quotes here): "how horrible this year has been...its ridiculous." and "really has just been a horrible first year"

5) Contain self-righteous validation because of "am i going to be ridiculed and then have a bunch of sony fans downvote my videos again". No, people disagree with you opinion because it's a terrible one. And if they subsequently downvote your videos then it just means that people don't value what you have to say and would rather that you go away. Moreover, wth do Sony fans have to do with this? Everyone (who's been around) will disagree with this.

Luckily for you you can hide behind the veil of anonymity that is the internet. Oh wait... that youtube channel - you can't.

This is how the first year of new consoles always goes as studios straddle console generations and start the transition to producing for new hardware.

Of course people forgetting this is also a natural part of the process as well, so there you go.

i dunno, like 8?

with the ps4 though,  i thought we were going to be getting all kinds of games because of the supposed shorter development cycle like there was during the ps1 and the ps2. that is what he told us, isnt it?

The thing is the shorter dev cycles do not mean much when gamers are demanding more and more AAA experiences that are meant to be constantly evolving. Better graphics, better animations, more content..you get the point. That's why I don't think you will notice much difference in the development cycles. (Except for the indies and the games in-between AAA and indie)

there, thats a more reasonable list. i took out all the shovelware. and really, you are going to include DLC? that doesnt count as a game, thast absolutely ridiculous. also, some of those games have been delayed.

but really, my post was more about the first six months of the year and how unacceptable it was.

Lol you crossed of many promising games, the issue has become clear, its not where are all the games, its basically you complaining that not enough games are coming out that appeal to you.

Perhaps logic doesn't work on this one. But don't let me stop you from trying.
