gamers do need to complain so these developers stop trying to fuck our asses.

There you go. That's the FUNDAMENTAL difference between you and me.

To me, game developers are normal, but highly skilled people. They have one of the most stress-filled jobs you could ever imagine. Many of them dreamt of nothing else while growing up, BEING GAMERS THEMSELVES (and serious ones at that), and then ended up through sheer hard work in the job of their dreams. But it wasn't all they thought it would be... Ohhhhhh no - not at all. The deadlines. My god the deadlines. Do you know the hours a game dev works? I do, because I know several

minimum 10 hours a day

most days 12 hours

some days 15+ hours

And let me tell you, the so-called fans make life harder - not easier. They are self-entitled and complain about everything. They don't realize the IMMENSE complexity in making a game nowadays. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of man hours. And these are smart, qualified men. And those deadlines... oh god those deadlines. There are many - not just the final one. Hardly any sleep, wife and family complaining due to them being at work all the time.

But they hold on... to their dream. *waves fist in the air* THE DREAM!

And they slog away. Spending countless hours pouring over forums and taking suggestions into consideration. Sometimes they can't do what they want because there just isn't enough time... or money. When the money runs low... Let me tell you - I personally know of people in a company that went under. It was horrifically sad. They were all sacked - 60 people on the streets.

And then, by some miracle some luck few find themselves in a company that WANTS TO make good games AND has the money and time to do it. They want to make it the best they can. They want the people to be happy. They are even luckier if there are enough talented people around to make it happen.

There are many companies like this. Big studios and small ones. Even indies. Look at no-man's sky. LOOK AT IT. Rockstar's Read Dead Redemption might be a few years old, but my god - what a labour of love. Metal Gear Solid 5. Sweet Jesus. Countless others in front and behind me. Sure, shitty games exist too, but there's shitty things in every field - E V E R Y field.

So then, the starry-eyed boy who is living his dream has to deal with... how shall I put it

I think the same as OP, when it comes to no games releasing on home consoles yet that appeal to me.  I also agree with forced online being bullshit.

What is forced online? Do you mean you are forced to play online?

Always online DRM.  Being forced to be online at all times during gameplay - even single player games.

Which games have that?

He doesn't know what he's talking about and then just stops replying out of cowardice.

the first console i bought with my own money was.. the wii u. but its really not about what i bought with my own money. its about what i have experienced over the course of my life.

i have been an owner of all seventh gen consoles from the start. sixth gen, the gc and ps2 tore it up pretty quickly. 64 had an abnormally low amount of games, but there were other factors that contributed to that. ps1 got the ball rolling pretty quick. snes, genesis had games coming out the ass immediately as well. i really dont see how whats going on right now is the same as what happened with older consoles.

also, for your information, i have probably like 6000 video games in my closet. i know a shit ton about the history of all the major consoles and, really, since the super nintendo started, ive played all of them as they were released. (i had older brothers 6 and 10 years older than me so i was fortunate enough to start out with actraiser for snes as my very first video game.)

Playing games as a kid, when virtually anything is good, and understanding the ebbs and flows of how game releases work when you are an adult are vastly different things.

Also, that must be a gigantic closet.

Seems to me that you are just looking for someone to blame because you can't have the toy/game/whatever-it-is-you-are-looking-for you want this week.

its actually two closets. and i went in there to do a quick estimation and it must be closer to like 4000. im horrible with estimating shit, but yeah, its much closer to that. id say maybe 500 or so are doubles, so you can subtract that out of there. i have been collecting for over two decades so yea, i have a lot of shit. a good portion of them complete with box and instructions and in nearly flawless condition.

So you think that every single video game publisher out there is intentionally attempting to make your life worse?  You don't think that a single one of them is looking at their business objectively and attempting to earn a profit by putting out games at specific times and for specific prices with a post-release monetization plan that most people are completely ok with?  Oh boy...

You should not quote reviewtech usa, that guy is useless :-/

Now, here is a list on IGN

http://www.ign.com/games/upcoming/ps4

You can guess that there are tons of games coming out for the PS4 in the near future, as well as many xb1 titles (and any other console still on the market)... There is not a week going on without a release on the PS4... that cannot be said of the xb1 that barely has a new game every month of the year so far...

How is Konami and Rockstar fucking me? They're not. And neither is Activision because I don't buy COD. And neither is EA because I only buy Fifa once or twice per gen and I LOVE IT. No one is FUCKING me. I'm spending a reasonable amount of money for a huge amount of enjoyment. Game publishing works the same as ANY other media. If you think game publishers are fucking you then you must get fucked all day long by everyone.

An entire publishing house can go bankrupt if a few games fail nowadays. Any man worth his salt would be wise to safeguard the money they make. High risk high reward business.

I just don't agree with your attitude regarding gaming and I think we should leave it at that.
