New Call of Duty Expected to Be Most Pre-Ordered Game This Year; Strong Support from Microsoft Cited

by Giuseppe Nelva (2 hours ago) 32

Activision Blizzard just held its financial conference call for the second quarter of fiscal year 2014, and provided a few statements about the predicted performance of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which will hit the shelves on November 4th for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3.

According to the publisher, Sledgehammer Games is delivering a “truly extraordinary experience” with innovations across every game mode, Activision’s best graphics ever and a campaign with a great story.

Activision plans to take advance of the open launch window thanks to strong first party support from Microsoft, highly engaged distribution partners and one of the most focused and (if everything goes according to expectations) effective marketing programs ever.

On top of that, the Call of Duty community has actually grown since the last earnings call in May, which is an unusual trend in this period of the year, when the player base usually declines. According to YouTube the reveal trailer of the game was the most viewed entertainment trailer of the quarter, not just between games, but also between movies and TV series in North America.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is expected to be the most pre-ordered game of the year and customers are showing strong purchasing intent, in line with Activision’s top performing titles of the past.

According to  the publisher’s metrics, purchasing intent is in fact significantly above what was seen with Call of Duty: Ghosts, despite the fact that the most important elements of the game haven’t been revealed, like multiplayer and some of Activision’s “best pre-order incentives yet.”

Makes sense, I really do think cod will outsell destiny until maybe a sequel or if the game gets support for 3+ years, then it might

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

What proof do they use for it being the most pre-ordered game? There are no actual figures or statements from Activision which suggest that.

I think it could be close. Destiny has many more pre-orders but it also releases two months earlier so that CoD has like eight more weeks to increase the pre-orders. Destiny has also already every important news out which could boost pre-orders enormous but CoD has still to get the multiplayer reveal which alone will add a huge amount of orders.

Edit: I think they mean that it will be the most pre-ordered and not that it already is. Right now it should be way behind Destiny.

I call bullshit honestly.

COD has been on the decline for years now and it seems like this year has been no exception; Why else would they be offering 'the best pre-order incentives yet'?

The next COD being the most pre ordered is just the wrtier's opinion. I doubt he's seen actual pre-order info.

There's no proof behind that statement so it looks like the wrtier's opinion.
