Forums - Gaming - ICO-esque Toren announced for PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac

A journey of discovery and transformation.

Indie publisher Versus Evil today announced Toren, a dark fantasy puzzle adventure game from Brazil-based indie developer Swordtales coming to PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac in early 2015.

In a journey about “growth, discovery, and overcoming great hurdles,” the game leads the player through an “introspective and captivating journey to explore deep concepts and existential questions.” Players will witness the birth and growth of a lonely girl named Moonchild, and guide her on a journey of discovery and transformation as she unlocks the power of a tower called Toren.

“We’re very excited to be teaming up with Versus Evil,” said Swordtales producer Vitor Severo Leães. “Toren is the biggest project of our lives and we have been independently developing it for three years. A big concern for us was finding a publishing partner for the game, one that understood how we operated and had the experience to help us launch the game successfully. We found the ideal partner in Versus Evil and are looking forward to working closely with them.”

As soon as you mentioned ICO, I was thinking The Last Guardian so I went into the thread without reading anything else and it wasn't about the Last Guardian T_T

Doesnt look very fun imo. The just walking around pulling and pushing random shit gets tedious fast. Its one of those artsy games that doesnt think it needs good gameplay because its oh so beautiful and meaningful...

Pass!

I love Ico, but I'm not 100% sure on this one. As much as it looks like Ico cosmetically, I worry that it might be too linear, scripted, and cinematic. In short, I'm worried that it's designed to be an experience more than a game.

Hopefully I'm just being paranoid and it will end up worthy of mention alongside games like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
