Forums - Gaming - Marijuana improves your video game abilities study finds

Well if the weed blog said it, then it must be true.

Marijuana makes people better at video games, but it also makes them forget where they left their controller.

yup totally does. with over 12 years of first hand experience. I have demonstrated it to many, over numerous games. whenever i get stuck in any game, i stop, smoke a bunch from my bong, and get back to it. able to do it after lol its also improved my scoring and k/d in online FPS.

If anyone becomes aware of any official studies, id love to give them a hand. I tend to fall into the "extreme tolerance" category, since i go through an ounce to myself every 2 weeks :P

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

Keep in mind, the study was based on Alzheimer's patients, so it might not apply to people without Alzheimers. Studies have shown that cannabis does retard the development of Alzheimers which would explain the video game performance.

As for my personal experience, I don't think weed makes me better or worse at games. On the one hand, I'm able to zone in on the game a little better, and I'm able to ignore distractions. On the other hand, my reflexes go waaaay down, so it's kind of a push.

found the missing link to the study :

What do you all make of this?

from personal experience i guess that cannabis has very different effects depending on the person

I wouldn't recomment weed to people who are either too young (the only negative studies about cannabis indicate that it does prevent a proper development of the brain) or have some personality disorder (and cannabis can actually trigger schizophrenia in those people)

on a side note - has anybody noticed how weed makes your scars heal slower ? I started noticing that with sports and especially body-building - it takes me 1-2 additional days to recover from the last session if i smoke weed...

I've played with many many people who smoke. At least for fighting games that require fast reflexes and quick thinking, I've noticed a severe decline in their abilities when they play high.

Well, speaking from personal experience weed, before my tolerance was too high, did make me play way better because it made the game funner and increased my immersion from the hyper aware state of being high. Nowadays though it doesn't effect my gameplay either way. Being drunk makes me play better unless I'm too drunk. Meth makes me superrrrrr good at videogames, but I don't do it often enough to know what constant use of it would do to your videogames. I played Halo 3 on LSD once, I was getting noscopes with the sniper continuously, but I only played one game so I can't really say. Also, if you are always stoned, like me, you play worse not stoned because you're used to being stoned all the time and you don't feel normal without weed.

Have you ever watched Penn and Teller's "Bullshit"? Everything can be twisted to make someone's crusade look good. I'm just saying.

I smoke a lot of weed. But, I'm only mediocre at games. I know a lot of other potheads to play all day and are just mediocre. My old seller does nothing but sell and play a variety of games. I can't say for sure, but then again I didn't do the study.

I have watched Pen and Tellers bullshit. Some of the bullshit they showed was bullshit.

Most smokers are mediocre at games. But a pro will be a pro if they're stoned or not.

really it depends on how much, small doses, I can believe it because it can increase your senses but larger amounts, you more just want to site there without a lot of motor function.

Actually, it depends on what kind of weed it is. Some make you feel energetic.
