Forums - Sports Discussion - The NFL Thread 2014: New England Patriots Win Super Bowl XLIX

Who will win the Super Bowl?

Who cares? 41 36.61%

That AFC team. 29 25.89%

That NFC team. 5 4.46%

Hahaha, not the Packers! 25 22.32%

See Results. 9 8.04%

Total:109

Couple notes on the games this weekend:

BALvsPAT: Pissed as hell that the Ravens blew a 2 touchdown lead... TWICE!!! And then Flacco had a great chance to win the game with 2 minutes left and good field positioning and he literally THROWS IT AWAY! I mean come onnnn. Clearly Flacco is no Eli XP. As much as it pains me I will give credit where it's deserved, Brady did a good job keeping his team in it and taking that win. Still not sold on them though.

SEAvsCAR: Carolina's defense stood strong for awhile and thennnn it went all crashing down on them which was sad to see. The Seahawks look scary good and currently the only team that looks complete at this point. I don't see any team beating them in the superbowl.

DALvsGB: Great game by both teams. Both teams should be proud how they played. Amazing to see Rodgers skip around with that limp leg and still play lights out. Dallas had a good run and Cowboys should be happy with how far they got. I will say it was fitting how there post season ended with a questionable call after what happened last game.

DENvs IND: Really sad to watch Peyton play like he did. His old age and injuries are starting to catch up to him. It's a shame he will most likely never get another ring. I would LOVE to see the Colts beat the Patriots. Luck just needs to stop throwing those Int and I think it could be possible.

In short I cant really see anyone beating the Seahwaks at this point. The colts throw way to many picks each game, the patriots don't have a strong defense and Rodgers isn't at his 100%. As of right now it looks like we will get another Seahawks superbowl (Probably by a blowout again too).

Game turned out to be a lot of fun in the end. Though not as fun as watching Skip Bayless cry about the Cowboys losing tomorrow for like 3 hours xD

I am so looking forward to this, but he will just double down on Tom Brady and the Pats(aww man imagine if the Pats also lost...I could here Stephen A. smith laughing for two hours)

Looking forward to that also, but both Steven A and Bayless picked the Patriots to win it all at the start of the season so I doubt Stephen A would be laughing for two hours if the Patriot would loose.  Can't see the Patriot loosing next week all they have to do is show up and give a half assed effort to win against the Colts if they actually show up and play halfway decent then they will have it won by the first half.

You could have said the same thing about the Ravens, but they kept the game super close the entire game. The Colts have a decent chance to take this game. The Colts just need to keep pace with the Patriots offense and it could go either way. If Luck stops throwing those picks this game can be a lot closer then people think.

See my comment on pg 379 (last comment), Bayless already started his tantrum on Twitter lol.

The Colts have a zero percent change of winning I think you need to look at the box score of the regualr season matchup again and that game was in Indy so the Pats didn't have home field and they still destoyed them by 22 points.

Well, I largely think the same thing, but who knows, the Colts could find a way to defend the  rush, and force Brady to have a shootout with Luck.  Not sure who that favors.  Definitely think the Pats secondary is good, but they have a hole at safety which is commonly exploited by TE's.  We'll see...I'm optimistic, really want the Pats to win, but I dislike counting any team out before kickoff (part of why I don't play the prediction game).

That game was also 7 weeks ago. Weren't you saying the Broncos were unbeatable around 7 weeks ago?! A lot could have changed for both teams.

I'm  not saying the Colts are definitly going to win this game, but I don't think they should be written off. I think it will be similar to the Ravens VS Patriots game, it can go either way. Its going to come down to which QB can pull off the better game.

Some saltiness in here lol

Not a Patriots fan at all, but Brady constantly drags subpar defences deep into the playoffs and even to the Super Bowl. He's a fierce competitor, a real leader and mostly clutch. Manning is a serial choker, who looked like he gave up after the first snap in his last SB appearance.

Don't ever compare him to Brady (who btw isn't responsible for any cheating that occurred from the Patriots)

Manning always had better offensive weapons than Brady also.  Manning had Marvin Harrison for most of his career and he is a legitamate top 5 five all time receiver and they are the top qb to wr duo of all time.  Plus Reggie Wayne is pretty good also.

If the game turns into a shootout then the Patriots will win for sure since Brady is a much better quaterback on top of that the Colts are not very good on the road in cold weather they got lucky with the weather today in Denver.  Plus the Colts don't have a great TE that can exploit that hole at safety.

Actually Skip picked the Seahawks to beat the Patriots in the beginning of the season because he said he didn't want to jinx the Patriots.
