What is wrong with asking the reciever to keep complete possession throughout the course of a catch?  It seems like a fair rule to me.  I just hate when people say that was a catch or that the Lions were robbed because it was the correct call.  You know who was robbed?  The Packers that time when Golden Tate caught that "game winner" against them.  Why am I sticking up for the Packers?  What is wrong with me?

I didn't say anything about the Lions being robbed.  I said, "The current rules about what is and is not a touchdown are ridiculous."  I don't understand why they would change the rule when it was just fine through all the decades before.  He caught the ball cleanly and in any real-world sense he had possession.  Now, though, you have to keep possession of the ball after the play is already over.  It seems like a completely needless change.

seahawks already out of Playoffs if they lose today?

imho there is no Chance 2 Team from the nfc west will make it into the Playoffs. to just cardinals? or maybe 49er?

I would rather be a Jaguars fan today. At least they have no expectations and when they do something positive it's a nice story. The Bears, on the other hand, had all kinds of expectations this year and are sucking on an epic scale.

You are sticking up for the Packers because you were manipulated by the media. During all the replays they omitted the one camera angle that showed Tate catching the ball with one hand right before Green Bay's defensive back gets his hands on the ball.

I will say btw, the game absolutely favors the pass, but I think the ticky tack emphasis bullshit should go.  It just feels like if you catch it, have two feet in, and have control...that is basically possession.   But, yeah, don't make the rules, so no biggie :)  Still, the shitty emphasis needs to go away.

But the ball popped out the instant he hit the ground.  This is not possession.  If a player does the same thing on the field and isn't touched it is a fumble for the exact same reason.  I don't understand why people have such a problem with a rule that makes complete sense, unless of course they are Lions fans...

It makes sense to me.

Also, the rules in the NFL already favor the passing game as it is, so one thing that is on the stricter side isn't something to complain about. The way it's now, it has to be a catch that leaves no room for doubt that it was indeed a catch. That makes the entire thing less controversial than it would be otherwise.

I disagree.  I think it's the same thing, which is why we have so many replays to see if a receiver had it long enough.  Being officially down while you have secure real-world possession of the ball isn't really more complex.  It just another judgement call, like the way we now have so many replays to see if a guy "made a football move" after he caught the ball.

I dont think, it would just put them in a tough spot.

Their division

ARI - 5-1
SF - 4-3
SEA - 3-3
SL 2-4

That was an insane catch by Bennett in the EZ there. 45-15 Pats.

The Bears are only down 30 now. They have a fighting chance.
