It seems like the definition of anti-hero is flexible, but if we use the standard definition, a hero with unheroic qualities, I'd say Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach takes it for me. He was so blood-thirsty and battle-crazed, and yet his fights were always so fun to watch. My personal favorite was his fight against Kaname Tousen, which was the first thing to come to mind at this question. The way the antagonist was given heroic motivations, while the protagonist was given villanious motivations...very few anime fights stand out to me like that one did.

If we're extending the definition to villains or former villains that aid the hero in some way, my personal favorites would be Sesshomaru (Inuyasha), Sir Crocodile (One Piece), or Grimmjow (Bleach again).

Viral from Gurren Lagann, or even Satsuki from Kill La Kill.

Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!!!!

Pic of the day

We're getting Berserker armor in the next season of Berserk...yay. Anime won't do this justice though.

Watched Moribito, quite a good anime. Definitely had interesting pacing considering it was sourced from a novel. I think it would be fun to read it all, might have to check the bookstore out.

That was my feeling as well. As soon as I finished the anime I wanted to jump into the novels even though I never read books. However they weren't easily available so I dropped it and just watched more anime.

Shokugeki might just be the perfect shounen. It started off pretty rushed this season but it turns out it's one of its biggest strengths. Not only do they cover a lot of story but they always keep the pace and tension up. It's a wild ride from start to finish with a great zoo of characters, comedy in moderation and unbelievable creativity.

Now I need to think really hard of reasons why I won't give it a 10.

I think to the wider public, Vegeta is undoubtedly the most iconic and famous antihero in Anime History but this is likely due to the everlasting popularity of DBZ

To anime fans who is better is likely different.

I think Vegea is best being the jerk to his plea to Goku to avenge the death of thier race. To his conern for the death of his future son against Cell and eventual admiration of Goku in the end is a epic journey.

I just recently got the game on Steam due to Namco Digital Store sale that was awesome - for about $6 or so. I wont watch the anime yet - gotta play the game prior to that.

Gonna get the Alisha DLC sometime later this year or next year.

It's okay to watch the anime before or after the game. Episode Zero of the anime is completely new story focused on Alisha, and otherwise, although the anime progresses similarly, two episodes in the middle are basically marketing for Berseria, and by episode 8, events and the character development of Mikleo already start differing in varying ways (anime Mikleo >>>>>>>>>>> game Mikleo)

Honestly, I didn't like the story for Zestiria when I played the game, so I'm really hoping they keep making small but significant tweaks to the anime. At the moment, the story is hardly some amazing example of how a story should be told, but it's good enough that the high quality animation doesn't feel like a waste.

Well, Re:Zero is over for now. We can finally turn our attention to good animes. It's at 8.81 now but unless it reaches 8.85 I still win.
