Someone needs a pinch of Dagashi Kashi.

Luck and Logic is my sleeper favorite. The characters are interesting and it can be quite funny at times.
I hope the author of GATE got paid by the SDF for what is basically an SDF advertisement and propaganda piece. There are things about it I like and things I absolutely hate. Unfortunately, the things I hate outweigh the things I like so I'm dropping it again after giving it another chance.

Really? Did you watch episode 2? That short hair girl in the military SLAYED those knights!
And oh boy! Gotta check that age first!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Yeah. I hated that. That kind of complete swerve from reality to show how awesome and cool the main characters are ruins any sense of tension or realism. A young woman from modern Japan easily beating a group of men who have probably been practicing sword combat all their life? And all she has is a bayonett? That was stupid. And the way she killed all those guards while they just stood there doing nothing? That seemed close to murder and made me dislike the main characters more. They seemed more like savages than the savages. If that had happened in a modern setting, the officer in charge would have been court marshaled, but the premise here seems to be that it doesn't really matter what they do to these people because they don't have the technology to strike back. And why did no one throw a spear, anyway?
They're making out the SDF to be superhumans who are wonderful people and are always righteous--even though a lot of the stuff they're doing is cold war era CIA/KGB level that we look back on now as being wrong. The anime actually tones down the manga in that regard.
There are other things I don't like, as well, all of which are a shame because I love the ideal itself and loved the initial chapters. Now it's just heroic, unstoppable SDF/main character masterbation. The only really interesting character is the princess because she has real conflict and she's shown actual character development. On the other side, it's basically, "LOL we've got guns, we'll win. Might makes Right."

The thread title being amended is really messing with me. You can't just change six months of stagnant thread title like that! :p

Just wow. I have a new frontrunner of this season. Buranki is amazing. Great direction, art direction, sound, music, characters. It's just really really well made with a big budget to back it up. And this is all despite being a children in mechs anime. The 3d CGI is the only thing that holds it back but they are still able to deliver impressive action and setpieces.
If that thing was animated by Trigger it would easily be a strong contender for AOTY.

Does it actually improve after episode one? Because I thought episode one was decent for the first half, and then just fell to pieces as a clusterfuck of bad storytelling in the second half. It completely pushed me away from the show with all that unexplained nonsense that they tried to pass off as introducing story elements, when really, it was just haphhazard crap that made it way too obvious that it was a made for TV original animation with no source material to speak of, not at all contributed to by anybody that has written above the level of fan fiction.

Hey I'm a new user that really enjoys anime, haven't really seen anything from this season though. (I'm trying to catch up with some old shows now). Currently watching jojo's bizarre adventure after hearing so much about it and I gotta say it's pretty good(very bizarre though).
