The problem is that 8K (4320p) is coming faster than most think. 4K (2160P) is acting like 720P did for 1080P; a precursor for the HDTV era. NHK will start doing wide-area trials in 2016 with the aim of broadcasting the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in glorious 8K.
Granted, pushing those 33MP will be challenging even for the most technologically advanced PC's in 2020. For that, it is worth looking at the performance of two of the best GPUs that came out 7 years prior to 2013; 8800GTX and 2900XT.
In all, by 2019/2020, 4K will be very common and 8K will be on the cutting edge. Consoles will need to support 4K even if at 30fps and/or with upscaling. It won't be funny to still play at inferior resolutions.
No foreign sky protected me,
No stranger's wing shielded my face.
I stand as witness to the common lot,
survivor of that time, that place.
