Because it's the same. We already have it and know it. If they would put it out next year again, the same thing, would that version again deserve the same metascore? It's laughable really. And unfair to new games, if a port with little effort can breeze through the reviews like it's the second coming.

Besides, I already thought it was overrated last year as well. Like I said, I liked it, but I mean, come on .

Little effort? Sure, buddy. Sure.

*pic*

No point discussing this further with you.

If the screenshots are any indication, I know enough.

But sure, it's fine. It's not hurting me, don't worry. I hope you'll enjoy it. And other people to. I did last year.

I did last year as well. But you clearly have no idea of the work required to port a meticulously fine tuned PS3 game to an x86 architecture.

OR maybe they have just made some really good games this gen(well last gen seeing as we are currently in gen 8) That could be why they have been getting so many 10's on their games. Also nothing wrong with you feeling game is not a 10 that is perfefctly fine but that second statement of yours just seemed a little....odd.

This game doesn't deserve tens where the original didn't get tens, though, unless the only justification for it is the shinnier graphics seeing as how they've changed next to nothing else, so I find it strange that suddenly tens are working their way out of the woodwork where before they weren't tens. That is why I said that statement, the second one that is. (I also tend to think NDs IPs have been overrated since J&D, but that's an opinion for another day and another time!)

The overall 90-95 is still a worthy score for the game, though I would always argue that a remaster should not be nearly as high as the original unless significant changes to the actual gameplay occured. They haven't here.

Well upgraded graphics and some fixes on the bugs from what I have seen and read AND to top it off it comes with ALL DLC released so yeah going up 1 or 2 points seems reasonable enough when you look at the entire package. And trust me there are games that others love from studios that I can't get into so no argument there we each have our own views and opinions. Thanks for breaking down what you were saying though because that first statement was super vague and did seem kind of odd but your points are very valid.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Lol come on.

Sure it's a good game, though I found it very simplistic on the gameplay side of things, but to give all these 10s again for a remaster? Are those couple extra pixels and a smooth shadow enough to make these reviewers cream all over it again? Less than a year later? Because it's exactly the same in every other aspect. I just don't see it, this ultimate praise the game gets. Not to sound salty, I liked it, but, overrated much?

If it's the same, why wouldn't it deserve the same praise it got before? You say it's the same, yet it's an improved version of a GOTY... If it's the same, yet improved, why shouldn't it get at least the same score? Did it get worse because the original came out a year ago?

Because it's the same. We already have it and know it. If they would put it out next year again, the same thing, would that version again deserve the same metascore? And unfair to new games, if a port with little effort can breeze through the reviews like it's the second coming. It's laughable really, to me the release is the joke of the year. Sony must be laughing their asses off.

Besides, I already thought it was overrated last year as well. Like I said, I liked it, but I mean, come on .

Salty much?

The DLC is actually a decently valid point for maintaining or increasing the score since they were not rated previously, but then I'd offset that somewhere or other with the pricetag but that's a transient thing and the price will drop down to the more appropriate 30$ value it should be. :P

Inb4 sony bought reviews because this is overpriced bloatware to make their library look less barren than the Saharra! :P

I see you failed to read anything else in that conversation. Why would I be?

GOTG morphed from Game of The Generation to Game of Two Generations.

welp.. finally traded in my ps3 copy today at gamestop. Will be picking up my ps4 version tomorrow. freakin awesome because since it's consider a pre-order, I also get gamestop's preorder bonus on top of that. h-e-double hockey sticks YEA!!!

I remember you being a huge advocite for the game not being worth it for people who already had the ps3 ver. What changed your mind? also glad to see it continue to get the reviews it deserves.

Well.. To be honest.. I wanted an upgrade fee so that I can keep my ps3 version and also be able to move over and continue playing it on my ps4.  But because there would be no upgrade/discount.. This was the next best thing.  My advocacy was that previous owners shouldn't have to rebuy the game for $50.  Didn't want to spend so much for a 1yo game.. Considering I already invested in over $75 into the game and for the most part, Sony and ND already got my money for the game.. Anyways, would of still loved to be able to keep my ps3 disc, but alas, it comes down to whether I wanted to continue dusting off the old fatty to play TLOU or be able to play it on the new gen.. The value of the ps4 version at $25 plus all DLCs and added bonuses from GameStop.. Made it a better value in my eyes, even if I had to give up my ps3 version in the tradeoff.  It was better for me to be able to move over to new gen then continue to live in the old.. That in itself was worth it.

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

My early impressions, in terms of the UPGRADES not the original game

- 60 FPS is such an unbelievable difference compared to the original which struggled to maintain 30fps
- The resolution boost is incredible, the whole image looks so much cleaner
- Photo mode is very nice, tons of options

- One thing though, is you can certainly tell its an upgraded PS3 game. I don't mean this to be negative as its still beautiful, but the original shock value I had playing The Last of Us the first time isn't here. There are games on PS4 right now that are more visually impressive.

All in all, well worth the price, and is a very nice upgrade but don't expect anything earth shattering visually. This will be incredible however to first time players, prepare to have your mind blown by how good this game is.

Great impressions, Ben! I haven't played the game yet because I felt in my heart that they would release a next gen port. Now I get to experience the version the PS3 was meant to be.
