Forums - Gaming - The Last of Us Remastered REVIEW THREAD, IGN / Gameinformer 10!!!!

It's a 10 to some, an 8 to others. Anyone getting mad about either score is just being a fanboy. Seriously, how can you argue with someone's score? It's their opinion. It can never be wrong. You either agree or disagree, and that too, is an opinion, and thus never wrong. I played tlou, I loved it. Story, was excellent, the voice acting is the most well done in any game, ever. The game play is solid, so that's where the game drops for me a tiny bit. Story, voice acting: 10/10, gameplay:8/10. The game as a whole, because I was engrossed in it very much:9/10.

There you have it, another opinion.

I think a good question would be is "what was the scores gamerinformer, IGN and videogamer.com gave the PS3 version and what warrants a perfect 10? I don't believe The Last of Us is a 10, 8-9 seems right for the game

Videogamer.com 10/10

http://www.videogamer.com/reviews/the_last_of_us_review.html

IGN: 10/10

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/05/the-last-of-us-review

GameInformer: 9.5/10

http://www.gameinformer.com/games/the_last_of_us/b/ps3/archive/2013/06/05/the-last-of-us-review-naughty-dogs-grim-masterpiece.aspx

Why they stayed @10 or went up to 10? Simple.

The game is $50, is an upgraded version of what they rated earlier AND it comes with ALL the available DLC.  It's better in every single way. Being 1-year old doesn't take away from that.

Well deserved. It's the best game of all time in my eyes. Nothing before and nothing since has come close.

The PS5 Exists.

Can I get some salt anyone? You guys seem to have extra today.
OT well deserved GOTG again.

10/10 does not mean it's perfect, it means it's closer to 10 (perfection) than 9 ("just" greatness)
..though who cares what they say. i didn't need their opinion to know this is the best console game since the PS2 era.

Then why don't they score it 9.9/10?

They round it up from 9.999

They might as well have left it at that score. Then all these people, who are saying that no game deserves a perfect 10, would be happy... even though in the end there is pretty much no difference between 9.99 and 10.

How can a site nitpick a game this good down to an 8/10 while glossing over the hundreds, maybe thousands of flaws present in a game like Skyrim? It's fine being extremely critical if they at least show a bit of consistency.

Because games don't start out with a score of 10 and then get deductions.  They start out at 0 and earn their way up to a 10 or whatever.  Gamestop just didn't think the last of us was worth more than 8.  And I can tell you first hand that if you were not a huge fan of the genre or the story, you could very easily give this game an 8 or less.  How many times can one do the same ladder/plank/raft puzzle before he goes insane?  :P

That doesn't really change the fact that Skyrim is a steaming pile of dog mess. As a fan of Morrowind and Oblivion I have to say that any site that gives Skyrim a 9/10 can not really justify handing out an 8/10 to much of anything. I know it's tangental at best but Skyrim is a trainwreck in terms of graphics, physics, characterization and plot. There are also tons of other issues but this is neither the time nor place. Again, some consistency from the site would be appreciated.

I never played skyrim so I don't really have an opinion on the matter, but I do know that Skyrim got a lot of goty awards, I think it held the record until tlou came out.

Something...Something...Games...Something

Just another 10 thrown by IGN to another game. A good reason why Gamespot is sometimes more reliable.

I am surprised that the hair of the girl in PS4 looks way more blurry than it should:

That's because of the resolution (1080p). And also because the texture of her hair was meh in the first place, 1080p just make it easier to notice. She's a minor character and appear in just one sequence so I can understand why her hair texture are not on par with the rest of the character.

But by definition 8.9 = 9, 7.9 = 8, etc. I think they can give a 9.9 to a game, but that would trigger a comment meltdown on the IGN website.
