I'll simplify it for you.

*ahem*

Europe Numbers vs UK Numbers:
-------------------------------------------

UK Numbers > Europe Numbers

HOWEVER...

France + Germany = UK Numbers

Because publications combine UK and Europe numbers together. People interchange UK with Europe when it comes to video games sales.

Where? Show me one example of that happening...

You know what. I was wrong about France + Germany = UK. That information was from 2011. France + Germany have already grown much bigger markets than the UK.

The UK used to be the 3rd largest video game market. That isn't the case anymore. France appears to be #3 now.

In regards to total market revenue:
--------------------------------------------

1) North America - #1
2) Japan                #2
3) France              #3
4) Germany           #4
5) UK                     #5

A lot of the misconception on the UK being the 3rd largest in the world and the _largest_ market in Europe comes from this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_gaming_in_the_United_Kingdom

However, according to more reliable sources, that's really not the case, as seen here:
http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Video_game_industry

However, with that said, a lot of publications like to interchange the UK with Europe, even though the market isn't really viewed that way.

Well, how could you see it? Many publications either say, "Europe" or they say, "UK". Notice how they never say both. You see very few places that actually write about the numbers in the UK separately from the numbers for the rest of Europe. Its either one or the other.

When they say UK numbers, they mean how much something has sold in the UK ONLY.

When they say European numbers, they mean the entire continent including the UK.

Once again, how many publications have you seen that talk about numbers in the UK and the rest of Europe separately when talking about video games?

Just give up. I've done my research on this. I've searched for articles that compared UK and the rest of Europe separately and found nothing. Every time a video game publication throws numbers out there, they almost always say "UK" *despite* the fact that the rest of Europe has higher numbers. Almost everyone who attempts to tell me the UK matters when discussing sales numbers always neglects to mention the rest of Europe.

GO EU!!!

EU is a pretty strong place for Nintendo right now.

Yep and Europe is awesome! If anything it would be a surprise if there were more sales in a single country like Japan than in the whole or Europe for a game like this.

Europe is all kinds of awesome for sure.

Assuming you are reading English language articles it is hardly surprising they focus more on the UK than on France or Germany. But why would anyone compare the UK on it's own with the rest of Europe. UK is a part of Europe.

I'm not too sure. It has boggled my mind for the longest.

Oh WTF???
This is best market:

Unity:
1) N.America
2) Europe
3) Japan
4) Rest of world

Separate:
1) USA
2) Japan
3) UK
4) France
5) Germany
6) Rest of N.America
7) Rest of Europe
8) Rest of World

I don't think that's quite right anymore. Brazil is supposed to have shot up to around the level the top European countries are.

Humm, maybe "rest of world" is more important that rest of Europe and rest of N.A, but the rest of my chartz is perfect.
