As stated before, 3rd party exclusive are a bad idea, and Titanfall is a great example. Exclusivity probably halved the total expected sales for Titanfall. It could have sold an additional 3-4 million for PS4/PS3 which is about another (4million * $60) $240 million of revenue. MS got a good deal for getting Titanfall exclusive to Xbox1, but Respawn probably didn't get $240 million to cover for the loss of sales.

I pretty much agree with all you've said, just wanted to point out that Respawn wouldn't get anywhere near that $240 million figure. The shop takes $10, MS takes $10, packaging cost $5, publisher takes money, eitherway, I think they probably only got $15. So $60 million maybe but here is the thing I still don't think MS paid that much to keep the team working.

I said revenue and not profit.
But Respawn also lost out on hidden revenues. Assuming that Titanfall 2 goes multiplatform, Titanfall 2 PS4 sale is probably going to underwhelm (unlike Watch Dogs or Destiny) because the PS4 gamers haven't played Titanfall 1, so there is no built-in fanbase for the sequel. The exclusivity deal is also stunting the growth of the franchise for the sequels. As new 3rd party IP, you want your game to have mass exposure as much as possible.
