Insomniac says digital pre-orders coming to Xbox Live

Xbox One owners will soon be able to pre-order titles via the Xbox Live marketplace.

That’s according to Sunset Overdrive developer Insomniac, which in an episode of Sunset TV – as spotted by Joystiq – has said: “If you pre-order the game digitally, you will get the Day One Edition content. You can't pre-order it digitally yet, but soon you will be able to."

Sunset Overdrive is due out on October 28th. Of course, this policy could vary by region so it’s impossible to say whether similar plans are in place for the UK.

Sony last month listed a number of PS4 games that will be available to pre-order on PSN, all of which after purchase will be pre-loaded onto a user’s system in time for launch.

Yep.

I'm at about 50/50 for physical and digital games owned. This will go along way to tipping the balance

Why pre-order a digital downloadable game? Its not like itll be sold out on release day...

So you don't have to wait for it to download on release day. If the game runs to about 30gb(pretty normall) it would take over an hour to download.

To be able to play it at 12:00 am/0:00 of release day. I dont really care for any game that much but people like it and steam/Sony have done it for a while.



Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

When you order it, possible a few days before release.

Sounds like the only perk is that you can play the game at midnight instead of 1am...
