You should work on that...

you of all people

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

If I had the answers, I would've said something a long time ago.  Now, I'm just glad that I really enjoy reading, because if the industry does go Belly-up, I have other alternatives to gaming.  I've altered my purchasing practices to coincide with my principles, ergo, I don't buy games that I'm not certain about, I don't take flyers on things anymore, I'm more than happy to wait several months+ after launch, just to see how things pan out, and I most certainly don't contribute money to things that I wholeheartedly object to.  Yes, I do pass on a great deal of games, but I'd rather stick with my principles than sell out because of something shiny.

That's something everyone can do, but I can't force them to, they'll have to learn about this stuff in their own time.

People will buy anything - until they stop buying it. They will learn.  Sadly, it may all happen at once and cause the crash that is no doubt on it's way.

Well, I think this simply comes with age.  When I was younger, I cared far far less about my purchases, mainly because the money I was using wasn't mine.  Once I had a job, had bills, had rent, car payments etc... that money becomes far far more valuable and I wasn't nearly as cavalier with my spending.  I'd rather put in some extra time looking into a game, than take a flyer and be pissed off that I screwed myself.

Isn't Bethesda already doing this?  It certainly felt like that when I played Fallout.

Ah c'mon now, Fallout was awesome!

...if you played on PC...

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

I like the idea. As long as they don't charge full price and give us bonuses for our beta testing for when we upgrade after the game makes a full release. I can be fully on board with this. Especially during game droughts.

Not interested...

I would love to be playing The Order right now, limited number of levels, glitches and all. Obviously there are a ton of people who sign up for betas all the time so there is definitely a market out there for it.

Should be free for PSN+ subscribers and a small fee for others.

And yet another thread filled with "I don't like it, therefore it's stupid" comments. Nowadays it seems to have become the norm.
Can people just not accept that there are thousands of products in existence that are aimed at an audience of differing preferences.

Don't like Early Access - simple! Don't go to the part of the store offering it, avoid it completely, and it will not change the way you enjoy your hobby at the slightest.

It is so wonderful that we live in a world filled with choices, and with the freedom to choose what we prefer we can always enjoy it to the fullest.

Of course, this fashionable trend of bitching at everything you don't like exists everywhere, but since I frequent mainly gaming forums, it certainly seems that gamers are the most miserable bunch, disliking everything that surrounds them. If everything about gaming frustrates someone so much that they need to denigrate and belittle everything outside their niche of interest, perhaps they should find another hobby, in order to prevent serious threats to their physical and mental health.

OT: I'll never pay for Early access games. I can't even find time to play the ones that are finished.

Are we gamers or are we alpha/beta testers?
It's an interesting idea, but I wouldn't come near it with a 10 inch pole.

It could be a good thing to let gamers in on the development cycle, but why should we have to pay for it?

I think your missing the point entirely to be honest. Your NOT paying for it, not at all. Your pre-ording a game that allows you to take part in the cycle. You could see it as a perk to pre-ordering. Your not paying anything extra, your paying what you would normally for a game.
