If he's talking UK, which he probably is then No1 is achievable if all the stars align for MS. Globally not a chance, even with a lackluster Japan for PS4 the global die has been cast.

Not that I don't agree that PS4 will remain #1 globally...   But to say the die has been cast when the Xbox One isn't available globally is interesting.  With the shift in focus, and lower price before the "worldwide" release of Xbox One in September(When it goes from being in just 13 markets to around 40 - still about 15 less then PS4) I think they are in a better position to make up so ground.

We all know that PlayStation is more of a "global" brand for console gaming. So X1 likely won't surpass the PS4. The X360 had NA and UK to help fill that global gap, which right now is in PS4's favor. But again.. just 8 months in..  8 MONTHS PEOPLE.. NOT EVEN A YEAR..  we can't be saying anything is set in stone..

All those countries where PS4 officially is and Xb one officially is not make up only a few thousand sales each week for PS4 (aside from Japan) and it will be the same for Xb one. So if Xb one's non-holiday baseline is in the low 60Ks currently then when those other countries come on stream then it might bump that baseline up to close to 70K. If PS4's baseline rmains in the high 90K-low 100K range then those extra countries will have negligible effect for PS4 vs Xb one. They will have non-negligible effect for Xb one vs Wii U and they could secure a minor advantage for Xb one over Wii U and eventually assure Xb one of 2nd place.

And the hardcore early adopter Xb fanbase in many of these countries, esp in the EU, already have the box.

And you actually can fairly reliably predict the relative positions of the console at the end of the gen after 8 months on the market. Barring a major game changer the global picture for the whole gen is more or less set by looking at LTD after each console's June in the calendar year after launch has past. (i.e launch in 2012 --> June LTD 2013 meaniong one holiday period).

So I predict:

PS4 at 8.4 million LTD current to 5 July 2014 --> 1st place this gen.

Xb one at 4.8 million LTD current to 5 July 2014 --> 2nd place this gen.

Wii U at 3.2 million LTD (June 2013) --> 3rd place this gen.

Those numbers don't predict market share for the whole gen just relative position.

Interestingly Xb360 and PS3 difference in the equivalent timeframe was only 124K. So too close to call at that stage, but PS3 had the lead and at what could be considered the official end of last gen PS3 had a very slender lead on VGC of just over 400K. After the new gen had fully launched Xb360 re-took 2nd place in the holidays, but PS3 has just recently re-taken 2nd place.

That's mainly because the claim that the One isn't available globally is a misconception, a hollow claim if you will.  There's an absurd amount of data suggesting/confirming that the One is available in any country to those who want it (whether MS has officially released in that country or not).  A very simple way to know this is that you have XB1 exclusive games, ranking on charts in countries where the One hasn't even launched yet.  South Africa, for example, had Titanfall (XB1), rank on their sales charts, when it launched.

And it's even more easily accessible in European/Asian territories, because many of those retailers spread the hardware around, especially when it's just sitting on shelves.

Sorry. The average consumer is NOT buying them from out of their country. Yes. Hardcore gamers would do this. But the real PUSH in those 20+ markets has NOT happened. No adversiting etc. The causal gamer does NOT even know the X1 exists yet. The general buying public are not "tech savvy" or very "smart" when it comes to new releases.  EVEN here in the USA.. I talk to people all the time who own PS3/X360/Wii and have NO clue that the Wii U, X1, and PS4 even EXIST!

Predictions on 12/01/15 - Generation 8 Totals:

PS4: 85-95m
X1: 55-65m
WiiU: 20-30m

Finally even MS have admitted that XBOX ONE sell ad...
With now games and new countries will sell good, but for NOW XBOX ONE have sold ad.

No need to be sorry, you're correct, the marketing push hasn't occurred in those countries, then again the vast majority of the countries in question are both Sony strongholds and nowhere even remotely close to the Microsoft strongholds (US/UK), which MS isn't winning either.  Your statement also forgets that Sony has already been marketing in these countries and will have been doing so for 2 months shy of a year, prior to the One's launch.  I mean, you're more than welcome to think these fringe territories are going to amount to something for MS, but the vast majority of hardware/software sales come from countries the One is already launched in.

I stated intitally that the X1 would not do amazing numbers in those countries, or catch up to the PS4. With the positive momentum the X1 has had (E3, Price Drop, etc) my point was that their likely won't be this "double" the weekly sales #'s we had seen.  PS4 is the better "global brand".  It will outsell the X1. But I dont think it would be a "massive" beating.  No console is going to hit 100m this generation.  There isn't going to be a "PS2" type leader.
