I don't know, but I think personally think sony should just kill the thing already.

Well its clear Sony has little interest in supporting it based on upcoming 1st party software.

However, keeping it around and letting 3rd parties support it probably doesn't cost Sony much and keeps fans happy.

Exactly! That's why they should keep it. Still though, I hope a first party or 2 will still creep through here and there.

Sometimes their numbers are pretty off on vgchartz. It's either that, or the shortage isn't as bad as people claim.

Vita is awesome and can sell regardless of whether it's in stock or not

To bad those sales dont count towards actual sales :(

Vita for Life (Its a bit redundant isnt it?)

They are supporting it..   Just the purpose of the device has changed. The main functions for the Vita going forward are 1.) PS4 Remote Play and 2.) PlayStation Now. 3.) Indie Portable system.

The Vita ultimately becomes a PS4 peripheral device. By X-mas we could see the it selling for $149 (non bundle)...  Hopefully we see a PS4/Vita bundle for $549 with games etc..   First part AAA games on the Vita don't make a huge amount of sense. People don't want to pay $30-$40 for PS Vita games. I think there will be a good life for the device. With mobile gaming on smartphones taking away the "casual" gamer who bought PSP and Nintendo's handhelds this seems a better route for the PS Vita.

Well the purpose changed because Vita failed. It went from mainstream gaming device to niche platform and accessory.

So there is no notable 1st party software in the horizon. On top of that, the device known as Playstation Vita TV in Japan is simply called Playstation TV in the west. Sony isn't just changing the purpose of Vita, they're moving away from it after just a few years.
