Sony Trademarks “The Last of Us” for Online Games and… All Sorts of Weird Stuff

The Last of Us Remastered is less than a month away from its release, but Sony may have plans to expand the franchise in several directions, some a little less orthodox than others. On June 30th the house of PlayStation filed two new trademarks for “The Last of Us” in order to expand its classes. The original trademark, which is still valid, was only for class 9 (games and downloadable games).

The new trademarks, which you can see at the bottom of the post, expand the mark to class 41 for “providing an on-line computer game,” which may indicate a possible plan to create some sort of online spin-off, but they also cover some absolutely hilarious options like baby bodysuits, briefs, pajamas, socks, plush toys, stationery and temporary tattoo transfers.

Whether Sony actually plans to produce those items remains to be seen, as it could be a defensive move to protect the mark, but honestly, who wouldn’t want to dress his firstborn with a clicker bodysuit?

That would be an awesome online mode. But if that was the entire game it would be quite disappointing. Needs the brilliant SP to go along with it.

Imo it should be like a $25 game similar to DayZ

spinoffs?

It was pretty clear already that Sony is planning to build a huge franchise out of TLOU and expand in other directions with it as well.

I'm almost certain that the game that is in planning stages at ND is TLOU 2 actually.

My baby child will be due December 25 timeframe so a TLOU baby clothing would be fantastic.

Don't know if it has something to do with the multiplayer being so unique, but it is THAT good and apart from any MP I ever played. The other trademarks are kinda goofy!

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...
