Forums - Gaming - EA Charging $4.99 for Demos on Xbox One

These games must be really bad so that nobody buys the complete version after playing the demo.

Paying for demos is not a new invention.

And it's never been a secret that people hold things they've paid for in higher regard.

EA is just combining the two with the obviously fact that Xbox owners like flaunting their excess income. Unless this is a mistake, of course. In either case, it's not news.

Don't you need PS+ to play online?

It never was that way until Microsoft came to gaming with their ridiculous charges. When one company sees gamers willingly paying for online you cant look away. With the financial situation Sonys in I cant blame them. Before then Nintendo and Sony were free for online.

Actually, I should be asking you a question. Wasn't it Microsoft who allowed EA to do this to Xbox One owners? In the end American corporations will always be American corporations. Take exploitation and turn it up.

Hopefully Sony and Nintendo, told them to fuck off if they think there charging for a Demo.

Nintendo? lol

Never thought of that. Do they even get EA games? Do they even have demos available?

They have demos. And they get EA games. Just not on Wii U.

Does the demo offer anything more than previous ones? If not:

Nintendo are well shot of them.

So, why doesnt Nintendo charge? Why doesnt Steam charge?

Plus it was a mistake.

EA can charge whatever they want, its not MS decision. Sony allowed GT5 prologue to get a full fledged release and this is no different.

Just when you thought things couldn't get any worst, EA finds a way to lower the bar ever further.

I have no words left. I just hope it is a mistake but with such specific prices on multiple games and in multiple regions I am doubting is was just a mistake.

Microsoft tried to get PC gamers to pay for online gaming with Windows Live, but it failed. Gamers united and turned down Live on PC. Um....no. MS allowed them to make these charges on Xbox Live.

Prologue was a taste test for GT5 because it was eagerly awaited being as popular as the GT franchise was (is) and had three updates within the period of time before GT5 finally released. If you want to talk about a glorified demo that could be beaten in five minutes look no further than MGS.

When MS does it, its exploitation. When Sony does it, its them trying to survive so its cool.  Does the price of online really matter anymore these days? You can make your money back on free games in like 2 months tops. 1 month if you find a $30-35 deal on Ebay or Amazon, which happens like 3 or 4 times a year.
