Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Defends Against Claims That PS4 Lacks Exclusives This Holiday

He needs to understand that even with the indies, the PS4 is currently lacking exclusive AAA games.

It's not like people want a massive number of this kind of game, it's just that the current PS4 library of exclusive AAA games is very small.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Nope you couldn't. I couldn't play Halo 1/2 multiplayer which is half the game .

You could have, had you gotten before April 2010.

Nope you couldn't because Halo 1 didnt have multiplayer for console. Also Halo 2 in 2010 was dead. Plus I got my 360 after that and so did tens of millions of Xbox 360 owners.

The PS4 is lacking in exclusive content for the holiday. So is the X1. So did the WiiU last year.

I smell a theme :p

I love that people are actually putting TLOU Remastered and Halo Master Chief Collection on the same level. Especially since this thread is about Holiday 2014. Even if it wasn't, Halo MCC isnt the Cash Grab that TLOUR is. Its the best retail deal this year that's also fan service. All 4 games, 100+ maps with all the DLC ever, Halo 2 remastered, Halo Nightfall AND a month long Halo 5 beta for $60. Maybe even a holiday bundle. They aren't even in the same league.

You're right they are not on the same level.
The xbox 360 install base is vastly bigger than the ps3 install base in NA, many more people are switching from 360 to ps4 and get to play a brand new game at a discounted price. While the ones upgrading from 360 to xbo get a collection of what most of them have played already.

I've played the halos and tlou already, not interested in either for now.

Most ppl upgraded from PS2 to 360 and didnt get to play Halo 1 or 2 multiplayer as well.

It's still something new vs something old / more of the same.
They're very different games anyway, one long running addictive multiplayer fps series banking in on nostalgia vs one incredible single player story campaign hoping to lure new people to the ps4.

You're right. Thing is which population is bigger. Is the Halo fanbase  bigger or the people who never got but want to play TLOU bigger.

TLOU will sell to people who never owned a PS3 while Halo MCC will sell to 360 owners who are looking to upgrade to next gen.

Where does it say anything about indies?

He didn't said it. I'm just adding that despite having third party support and indie games, the gamers are claiming for more exclusive triple-A games for the PS4.

"Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is a first-person shooter video game set in the Halo universe and is an enhancedremake of Halo: Combat EvolvedMicrosoft announced the game alongside Halo 4 at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo. The game was released on November 15, 2011—the 10th anniversary of the original title's launch—for the Xbox 360 game console."

"multiplayer gameplay via the Xbox Live online service"

That didn't include halo 1 multiplayer.

It was using the Halo Reach multiplayer engine. It was basically Halo 1 maps being played in Halo Reach. It played competely different. Everyone who has played it will tell you that. Also, it had like 6 maps.

Halo MCC will use the original engine.

I own all the consoles and this holiday is gonna be the craziest year to buy ALOT of video games:

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)
Super Smash Bros (3DS / Wii U)
Halo Master Chief Collection (X1)
Destiny (Multiplat)
Sunset Overdrive (X1)
The Last of Us Remastered (PS4)
Call of Duty: Advance Warfare (Multiplat)
Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)
Assassin's Creed Unity (Multiplat)
Bayonetta 1+2 Pack (Wii U)
Evolve (Multiplat)
The Evil Within (Multiplat)
Aliens: Isolation (Multiplat)
Dragon Age: Inquisition (Multiplat)
Far Cry 4 (Multiplat)
Forza Horizon 2 (X1)
Driveclub (PS4)

The X1 really is not lacking exclusive content this holiday. It has two huge exclusives and one that is likely to be huge just as its headliners.

You can reasonably argue they are not for you, or that you don't think they'll sell well. But that doesn't mean the X1's exclusive content isn't very fleshed out for its second holiday!
