Forums - Gaming - Anyone else feel games without achievements/trophies are a waste of time?

I just get 100% on games I really like and enjoy. If the game is mediocre or is boring I don't waste my time.

By that I'm mainly referring to Nintendo and PC games. Yes I know steam have achievements but they kind of suck so don't count.

I just love getting achievements and trophies and 100% a game. I like games on Nintendo systems and on PC but they just don't feel as good. Why waste time playing them when I could be playing a game that's just as good but also have the benefit of earning achievements or trophies at the same time.

Anybody else feel the same way?

I like them and think they add a lot to games, but no, I don't share your feelings entirely. I got my first console in 1986. I grew up playing NES games where beating the game was the only goal so for me, they're just a bonus.

What I got from this:
"Duke Nukem Forever is better than Ocarina of Time because it has achievements"

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

Thanks for all the great memories!

Back in my days achievements/trophies were called unlockables

Nintendo and PC gamer

trophies don't add much imo..a good chunk are mindless/meaningless

what did you do before tropies? I thought you played games mainly for the experience, gameplay, story and challenges within the game.

I love my trophies. Makes me not really want to play PSP or PSX games on my Vita, when I can play Vita games and get some extra trophies Sony should add trophies to all PSN games!! Nintendo should create a medal system as well. If I see a multiplat on Wii U and PS3, I'm gonna get the PS3 version just because Wii U has no trophies.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

I used to think that for the longest time, until I got over the sickness :P

Nope. They're fun to have and try to get but doesn't really make or break a game for me.

no its only a waste of time if they get patched in later down the road

as far as current multiplats on PC and consoles id rather have mods than the achievements

trophies ruin my gaming experience because throughout the game I'm ALWAYS thinking about them. nintendo games, i just play.

I'm 10% away from reaching level 15 on PSN, after i hit that mark I'm done caring

Not sure if you're aware, but you can disable trophy notifications.

it's not the notifications, I always look at the list when i start the game, and as i play i end up focusing on getting trophies, and get upset when i miss a do-able trophey. I know it's as easy as just not looking at the trophy list but...i guess i have a problem.
