Forums - Gaming - Weekly global 21 June: XBOX ONE increase again

nice boost for XboxONE, too bad for WiiU

next week will be interesting too, and I'm also curious if the coming soon Wii Sports Club will have any effect on sales, if promoted at all

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I don't think this seems all that weak. It's summer, numbers always goes down then. And I would like to point out that the ps4 and x1's numbers are better in the same time frame now then ps3 and x360, like many others already pointed out.

what will be interesting is where x1 and wii u will stabilize

It's not weak at all, not for PS4/X1. Honestly, I don't understand the negativity. The cries of doom and gloom just absolutely baffle me.

The weirdest thing I see is that its coming from people that have been on this site for years! You'd think they would be the first to know that this happens every summer.

I don't want to get some nerves tingling but i think it's a mixture of people disappointed with Wii U and others who wanted PS4 to be even higher that is making them cry out the entire numbers. The latter is silly, the former a bit more understandable but still silly.

It's obviously gonna keep getting lower for a few weeks. No retail releases in the summer other than TLOU HD, which will only give a marginal boost (and, seeing as how it's going to drop more, it probably won't put ps4 back above 100k). In September things will start to kick in for everyone

People need to realize that market contraction due to a,passing fad (Wii) does not equal waning interest in consoles.

Bottom line: anyone thinking consoles are dying is delusional.

No, Wii Sport club don't will have boost nex week.

In the best scenario, Wii U sell 50,000, but not will increase with Wii Sport club nex week.

The boost will have in Japan the ultimate week of July with bundle Wii Sport Club+Wii U, probabily Wii U sell more of 20,000 in Japan, and 60,000-70,000 WW.

Shouldn't Xbone be higher? Its price was cut 25% and there's no major bump. Europe still clearly doesn't give a fu**. Is MS running out of options here?

Its higher than the 360 at the same time of year in 2006 without all of the countries.

Do you even bother to check the data before you post things like this?

3 June 2006  - 85K

10 June 2006 - 81K

17 June 2006 - 80K

24 June 2006 - 78K

Xb one is not doing better than 360 at the same time of year in 2006. You might have an argument that if Xb one was in all the countries the nummbers would be much closer. But that is a total unknown and at this time of year the 40 markets where Xb one isn't might only account for 2000 consoles.

Xbox 360's first summer never went below 70K. Indeed the next time 360 goes below 70K is 18 May 2007. It will be interesting to see if Xb one can stay above 70K for so long. Do you know when 360 had its first ever sub 50K week? 13 march 2014. How many sub 50K weeks has Xb one had already? 6 of them. 5 consecutive weeks. There is a very good reason MS ditched autobundled Kinect: because their projections were showing that staying with Kinect at a higher price than PS4 meant Xb one would probably be the last Xbox console because sales were looking that bad.

You're forgetting that the PS3 was doing far, far, far, FAR worse than X1 during its first year headed into summer. Far worse. Yet it recovered nicely. It'll pick up dude. You know it, I know it. Stop with the gloom. It's unwarranted, and I think you know that.

Lol you wrote all that for nothing, if you kept reading the posts you would see I was responding to his Europe statement.

See my previous post for 360 vs Xb one. You are just plain wrong on that count. And before you try to say "but fewer markets!" 360's sales in the USA at the same point in 2006 were higher. Even this week, after 2 post price cut boosts Xb one is 5K short of 360's comparable week in June 2006. And it seems likely that VGC's June numbers will once again be higher than NPDs. And if they are too much higher then there will be a downard adjustment. It is very possible that Xb one will not outsell any of 360's comparable 2006 weeks.

As for PS3 vs 4 you are comparing a console that was being written off as being the end of Playstation and not going to sell more than 10 million units to a console that was hailed in the press for 6 months as the second coming of PS2. And in July of 2007 PS3 got a price cut (to $100 more than current PS4 price and = Xb one+Kinect Price) and it rocketed to sell between 90 and 120K a week through until early September.

That's actually pretty accurate. I'm not concerned about X1 or PS4. WiiU is a different story. But even that isn't so surprising. Aside from the Wii fad, Nintendo hasn't been the market leader in home consoles for a long time. Look at the GameCube.

Of course the Wii U is in a tight spot, and I wasnt implying any of that market leader stuff at all, so I dont know where that came from. But separating it from the summer slump completely while not doing it for the others is definitely skewing the story to push a "doom and gloom" POV/agenda. Not you specifically, but definitely some people here.

Unrelated, but calling the Wii a fad (in most of your comments you never have one word without the other) I'm getting a "trying to dismiss or explain away its success" vybe. Maybe you arent doing that but it's coming off that way to me.
