Hey, I am needing some advice on what to get from the Steam summer sale.  

I am tring to decide between Portal 2 and the Witcher 2. 

I have never played games from either franchises, but have heard good things about both, so which one would be the better buy?

I couldn't get into the Witcher and still sits unfinished in my collection.
Portal 2 is a freaking masterpiece IMO.

Portal 2, in my opinion. The writing and the humor are first rate. It's just a breath of fresh air when most videogames seem to either be about cartoon characters with no soul or "good" mass murderers. It made me laugh and it made me think.

Having played both I'd go with Portal 2. The puzzles are well designed and fun, the story is interesting, there is a near endless supply of player created content and it has some of the best writing you will ever find in a video game.

As a bonus Portal 2 is incredibly easy to run but still looks visually appealing. Yay for source, the mother of all potato game engines.

That all said, you can't go wrong with either. Both are great games.

Ive never played either, but I picked up Witcher 2 in the sale.

I guess Ill be the person: Getting those games would be less than $10 combined, why not just grab both?
