I think what people fail to realize is that AAA studios are dying, and they are dying at a rapid rate. There may be a lot of indie games showing up now, but that's because AAA studios aren't making fewer and fewer games. They're also creating fewer and fewer new IPs. I'm afraid in the next few years, AAAs will be a dime a dozen.

It seems that way because studios that make AAA games are relevant, so its news when they go under...

News? I think not. This has been going on since the last generation. This is no longer news at this point. This is simple inevidentibility.

Ok. Name 10 big studios that have gone under...?

Yeah, I agree 100%. For every brilliant indie game theres 200 shitty ones.

Honestly, that's the beauty of it, I love the experimental natural of indie games. What new idea work and what doesn't.

Games like Super Mario Galaxy has like 20 new ideas for games, but since its a big Mario game it doesnt count obviously...

Of coarse it count, but I'm talking about content from small, new studios.

What exactly is brilliant about 200 shitty indie games...?

For the one that devs put alot of effort in to try to make it interesting but fail in the process. I can't think of an example from the top of my head, but it's the effort that I personally appreciate.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Well people have to pay for that effort. Im not saying new ideas are bad, its just way too easy to become a developer these days...

Never mind, mornelithe posted the same list I was about to post. That one's from january 2012, too, so 2.5 years out of date. You can probably double that list by now, at the least.

Most of those were just a part of a big company...

You only asked for 10, I'm sure if you look through them you'll find 10 that satisfy your requirements.  This is simply an easy list to use.  And being part of a larger parent company doesn't mean the dev team wasn't large.  It just means they were an owned studio that either went bankrupt or got shut down.

I'm glad they exist, but they would never sell me on the machine. They're extras in the downtime.
