The recent NPD's datas just go against many other claims. So who are we to believe ? NPD figures (which are partly speculations since they don't have the real numbers for some retailers) ? VGCharts, that is suposed to have NPD based figures, but don't have the same ? Sony, Nintendo and MS ? Because while they don't give the exact numbers of units SOLD, their claims about shipping is usually quite accrutae. However, the gap between units shipped and sold (especially in Wii's case), is way to big. The retailers ? Gameshop claims +12% in sales (and apparently, they're not gaining market share over competitors which also had a great christmas) while NPD only get a +6. Good question. Probably no one. The numbers get fudged by about everyone so there is no way to know exactly. I think it's going to come down to a million here a million there. If there is a clear winner in the console war it will be very obvious to everyone. The NPD numbers should be correct. It's my understanding that they don't include some of the largest retailers in the US though including Wal-Mart and Toys-R-Us. They also don't include Canada and Mexico.
