Forums - Gaming - Xbox One Huge Day 1 Patch Woes Continue With Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

I used to fucking HATE buying a PS3 game and not being able to play it sometimes for hours due to installs and updates. I got Ryse for Xbox One on Saturday. Longest install I've ever experienced in my life followed by a humongous update. Not good, M$. Not good at all.

10GB day one patch is simply ridiculous.

It's funny how little to no complaining I've seen on this matter.

Its probably because not every game has massive patches. Big patches are a nuisance, not something that completely ruins the experience.

That's bad... like very bad for some people. I have friends who still live in 1999 with their 5 MBps internet speeds. That's a good 10 to 15 hours for them with their shaky speeds. Ouch. The X Box One is shooting itself in the foot and the word of mouth (especially in the USA) for the PS4 is massively good. All I see everywhere is Advertising for the X Box One, and all you see at Game Stop.. but when you go inside all anyone wants is a PS4 and PS4 games. It's really a reflection of how poorly The One has been performing. People want the better console that costs the same, it's really not THAT confusing I guess.

I wish I had 5mbs in 1999, it was 56kbs until 2003 for me.

yea I have no clue what I was smoking lol I had 56k dial up till about 2004.. I don't even think 5Mbps speeds existed outside of NASA in 1999 ;p It's weird from then with dial up to now with 60Mbps I have no clue how I survived back then... I guess ignorance is bliss lol

How does these games play without a patch compared to playing with them? If somebody has tried.

That's an interesting question. I think games would have lots of bugs if you play without downloading the updates. Microsoft needs to make  a size limit so developers don't release such huge updates and more over, make their games less buggy.

absolutely agree.

not sure how xbox handles it but i really like how ps4 handles it.  i can just jump right into the game and the update is completly in the background.  i might not be able to play multiplayer right away but at least i can jump into the single player immediatly.  it is sooo much nicer than my ps3.

Microsoft’s Xbox One seems to be one console which usually needs a huge sized patch for most of its games on day 1. The two recent games that come to mind are Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark and Sniper Elite 3.

huh?! that doesnt make sense! its not the consoles issue its the devs issue, how are they seriously pinning this on the xbox one?

Lollll.. This generation man... Its just gonna keep on getting worse and worse

Well its only year one. It took 2-3 years before 360 and PS3 really became appealing.

Gamers in 2008: "X360? It's more like Xbox 1.5, graphics are the same, this console is horrible and overpriced! This gen sucks!"

Gamers in 2014: "X1? PS4? Graphics are almost the same as previous gen, that gen was amazing and gave a huge graphical jump. This gen is horrible and overpriced! This gen sucks!"

I will redo this post in 2019-2021 when another gen launches and PS4 and X1 becomes the "best gen evaaah".

PS4 has large updates too but not as large as X1's. Even X1 exclusives have had huge updates.

we really shouldnt judge by launch tittles, because those were a special case for both PS4 and XB1 were hardware wasnt finalized until a few months before launch and software want finished by then either. however, a day one patch isnt the consoles fault, its the devs fault. yes, installs are very slow on XB1 thats true, and it is a problem, but the XB1 can run a game without a day one patch if the game didnt have one, so if there is a day one patch, its certainly entirely the devs decision to have it.
