Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony lowers The Last of Us: Remastered price, refuses to give people a refund (UPDATE: Sony has said they will refund customers)

Good lord people. You're getting the $10 back.

Can't believe this thread made it this far over something that no doubt would have resulted in a refund.

Seeing as someone posted a twitter about there being a refund, isn't the whole point moot? OP should at least change title as to not mislead people?

Updated the title.

The twit was only posted 3 hours ago; give the OP time change the title.

Pretty obvious response from SCE really: they want to encourage as many future digital/direct pre-orders as possible since it takes manufacturing, distribution and retail channels out of the loop.

Of course, when the terms of purchase clearly list specific terms, they're as much bound as they are protected by the terms of agreement upon a transaction. Kind of unrealistic to simply expect those terms to be backtracked upon, even though it was pretty predictable that they would.

Nice quick response from Sony. I don't think any other game company would react so fast.

Why, nobody gave Sony more than a day to fix the refund :)

Great marketing. Everyone knows that the game got a 10$ discount even before release! I bet the digital pre-orders are sky-rocketing right now!

How the fuck is getting something you didn't ask for the same as getting something you agreed to pay for at a certain price

Cmon, it's not hard. They are both examples of a business fucking up. And are both instances where the consumer needs not apologize or feel bad because the company fucked up.

Also, preorders are generally made for the retail price. I have never seen a situation where a company takes a full price for a preorder, then lowers the price, and does not refund the difference. Like I said before and like it has been pointed out by others, if Amazon or Gamestop or any other place that sells preorders had a preordered game drop in price, you'd either:

1. Be refunded the difference if you have already paid the full price.
2. Have your remaining balance reflect the new price.

This is elementary, standard stuff. I can understand not caring because it really doesn't affect you, but blaming people for actually preordering the game. Insanity. Hilarious, corporate apologetic insanity. And you work retail, so your defending it and blaming customers is even funnier.

The funny thing is you here. I never defended sony. My stance has always been be an educated shopper. I'm a firm believer in consumers taking more responsibilities.  Your analogy is still garbage
