Forums - Gaming - [Poll] Do you count a console exclusive as an exclusive?

Well,

Yes 187 40.30%

No 232 50.00%

For retail games 20 4.31%

Maybe because... 24 5.17%

Total:463

Depends on whether or not my PC can run it.

If a game is available on my PC I'm not gonna buy a certain console to play it.

this.  why do i need to buy a certain console to play a certain game if i can play it on this PC that im using to type this comment (and normally with better settings)...

and not everyone has that PC or wants to invest in such a thing.  I use my laptop for browsing the web, streaming movies, and schoolwork which for me is not graphic intensive.  I do 100% of my gaming on consoles and have problems running Rome Total War at the highest settings.  My PS4 and WiiU give me all the games I'm interested in other than a MEAGER amount that is not worth further investment.  So yes these console exclusives are VERY beneficial to my ecosystem.  Hell having Grim Fandango and others available is nicer than having to hook up a controller or getting drivers and the general inconvenience of PC gaming for someone such as myself.

Yeah, but ony for retail/AAA games.

To play a AAA game properly on a PC, you have to invest in a decent PC.  Most people's PCs can handle Indy games though, so I think having console exclusive indy games is not as big of a deal as console exclusive AAA games.

No I don't. That doesn't make sense to. PC is a very viable platform.

Nope.

you know what? i agree with you, i also only game on console, and if i had to choose between only gaming on console or PC i would choOse console anyday (because of the games on console), but lets be honest here, THE FACT that not everyone has a gaming PC, doesnt change the FACT that a game that is on PC AND ON ONLY ONE CONSOLE isnt an actual exclusive, because those who have a gaming PC and those who can afford one DONT need to buy a console for a game they can alreay get on their PC.

our preference of gaming on console doesnt change this....

well that's why we put the CONSOLE in front of exclusive.  If everyone just called them exclusives I could understand a change being needed.  Bottom line is it's a FORM of exclusive.  Not an entire exclusive just a limited or partial exclusive.

If a game is available only on a certain line of consoles (PS3 and PS4), I would call it _____ (Sony) Exclusive. If it were one console + PC, it's not exclusive at all. But strictly speaking, it is only exclusive if it is ONLY found on that one platform.

It's hard to consider anything exclusive these days as a lot of games recently have slowly been moving to other consoles.

Yeah but the thread is called: Do you count a console exclusive as an exclusive?, and you just said it, its more of a "partial exclusive"  because there IS another way of getting the game without having to buy a console, thats why i will always consider real exclusives like Zelda, Halo and Uncharted to be better system sellers than games like Titanfall.
