If they did so something like that, would future purchasers have to buy both at the same time?    If that was the situation I don t think it would work but if they worked independently of each other  ( as well as a combined unit) and could be bought separately then rhat may work

A new system. Can play it on the go as a handheld, then at home connect to TV (on a dock, maybe) and it acts as a console. Controllers and multiplayer and all.

I'm sure the DS brand will live on just so they can better compete with smartphones and tablets when its successor releases. Wii on the other hand has really died since 2011 so no use in beating a dead horse

Only if they change their 2 screen design. This would brake backwards compatibility so I don't think so.

I'm sure they want to start new next gen so new names for both.3DS successor could have a large enough screen to show the 3DS 2 images on it just like how Wii U does it on VC

I don't see them putting HD in the name. It's not really anything new or to brag about. In fact by the time any new Nintendo console would come out you'd expect 4k maybe.

I guess I could see a handheld having HD in the name though I think they'll drop the DS name entirely.

after the whole Wii U and people just thinking it was an addon to the Wii. They will not make the mistake to make their next console sound like the old one.
