Uncharted 4 wasn't CG. Sony has no reason to show CG trailers at this point.

CGI trailers are perfect for game announcements. That's what the E3 conferences are about. So if anything there should be more CGI trailers during the conferences and then gameplay on the showfloor. It's pretty annoying to watch 20 minutes demos of gameplay during a conference especially if the game is not interesting to you.

Absolutely.  For story-driven content, CGI trailers are the perfect way to set up what the game is all about.  Otherwise, it would be someone simply talking over game-play footage, trying to explain the story, which would be weak for a reveal.  That's not really what I want to see on stage.  I'd rather watch that in a video released afterwards, after I already know something about what I'm seeing.

No, but I do think they should have a disclaimer letting you know. Why Uncharted 4 would have such impact not having such a disclaimer. I thought it was CGI when I first watched it.

CGI trailers are completely useless in terms of gaming. Not only does it cost time and money that can better be spend on the actual game itself, it is also saying absolutely nothing about what you're going to experience. You don't buy games based on its CGI trailers. This years E3 was full of CGI trailers which can simply be viewed on the internet. Why would you go to E3 when they're only showing CGI trailers? It is a GAME EVENT. You don't watch games, you PLAY games and Nintendo is the only one that seems to understand that.

'I went to E3!'
'What's that?'
'A game event'
'What games did you play?'
'None'

but if they did that, Sony and MS wouldn't have a lot to show in their conferences....

Depends if the game is story driven or not. I absolutely love the Final Fantasy XIII CGI trailers.

It's a moot discussion. Companies can and will use full CGI trailers and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

They say, "Evil prevails when good men fail to act." What they ought to say is, "Evil prevails."

No, because then MS would not be able to show games years in advanced to pad out their lineup and we wouldn't have cool trailers for AC

Only CGI trailer at Sony's presser was a third party game and bloodborne (of which we have gameplay anyways). I think this mostly applies to MS whose three new games were all CGI with no gameplay whatsoever

I dont think you should ever ban something like that, but at the bottom of the CGI trailer they should have to say something like "Graphics shown are not representing actual gameplay" or something along those lines. Big enough for us to see/read

I think Sunset Overdrive did it the best. They had CGI and then that awesome transition from CGI to gameplay!
