Forums - Sony - So how big is Bloodborne actually going to be?

Or how much will it sell? Will it move systems?

We know that the Souls franchise has had very healthy growth since its exclusive days, with Dark Souls probably selling over 3mil combined and Dark Souls 2 opening even stronger but with legs cut short most likely due to releasing too late on last gen.

The fanbase of the Souls franchise is extremely passionate and the internet hype for Bloodborne right now is huge, as is the amount of port-begging. :p

But how much of that hype will translate to real world sales? And how many of the port-beggers will give in and get a PS4 for this?

My prediction:

2.5mil lifetime sales for Bloodborne and 220k PS4s sold during release week of the game.

Too early to tell, in my opinion. Everything is going great for it so far though.

Around the same numbers of Dark Souls 2 is my guess, but not as much as total combined sales since its exclusive.

This is why I love exclusives. It gives me a reason to support my platform of choice. My prediction is 5 million lifetime. Yeah. Its a big number.

This will get alot of love from Sony and the community so expect it to have alot of good word of mouth and hopefully a decent amount of marketing from Sony.

Nah it will do more than Dark Souls PS3 for sure. Exclusive game on a new console will sell more.

The cult is strong and the visuals and new setting could help over a new audience. Could be quite big but I don't think 5 million big. 4 million would be really great but I think even a bit lower than that.

I hope so. Dark Souls sold about 1.8 mill on PS3 and since its on a new console it may sell more, but generally the sales trends of a game in a franchise decrease with each release.

I know its not Dark Souls 3, but how different or similar in gameplay will it be? Im sure people will compare it to the Dark Souls series in lots of ways.

Probably something like Dark Souls sales combined.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

if they market like "From the creators of Dark Souls and Demon Souls" it can help big time
