Forums - Sony - No More Pre-Rendered Cutscenes From Naughty Dog Starting With Uncharted 4 - Report

In the past, they always say it's in engine/ in game/ real time and it's almost never true. considering that, untill they prove it with gameplay, that cutscene is no indicator of in game graphics. Now, even if it turns ou to be true, people need to remember that drake looking amazing =/= the game looking amazing. previous uncharteds had detailed characters but regular enviroments.

Naughty Dog already has plans to make it look better than the footage we have seen. This comes from Lead Programmer Christian Gyrling. I will take his word over a bunch of gamers any day, i have seen full well what these guys are capable of and its scary. Quite a few of the programmers working at Naughty Dog are so pro they can outclass even some of the seasoned Character Modelers and Concept Artist's at the studio. Judd Simantov was a jack off all trades and master of all, Programming, Animation and Modelling, rigging, you name it he had no limits he could do it all, and now he has his own gaming school, he even visits other gaming studios and schools them on some of NDs techniques. Never underestimate the power of Naughty Dog they did master the cell processor after all.

It's so obvious you have never played an Uncharted game.

Where exactly did they say it is rendered in real time? Can someone post the tweet or whatever?

So if by your standards Uncharted had "regular detail" environments, i suppose that means you also think MK8 has shitty environments?

Not that i expect you to admit such a thing. I still remember you claiming MK8 was one of the most demanding games on next gen consoles. You said that back when you thought it was 1080p/ with AA. Shame about that 720p/no AA huh?

Naughty Dog guys are magicians we know that but I have no doubt in my mind they talked withReady at Dawn pl to learn how they did it and went from there cause thats pretty much what the Order does, cutscenes are all in real time.

Lets try this exercise, get a copy of the Last of US (it can be the non remastered version) play it a bit and pay close atention to all the graphical marvel and details. Now get any game from next gem save from Infamous Second Son and find me 1 with better animations/enviromental details its gona be a hell of a tought job.
Its even wierder to say this cause the same trailer that shows Drake looking awesome also shows everythign else looking awesome and The Order 1886 is already doing in engine real time cutscenes so whats hard to believe about ND doing the same with Uncharted.

I wonder if it reduces development costs not to pre-render. Seems to me like pre-rendering only has one disadvantage being it significantly increases file size for downloading. It would make sense to eliminate pre-rendering if it means the game costs less to make. But if pre-rendering costs less then they should keep it.
