Sorry but I think your way of measuring how many people care (by counting "hype threads") is more than a bit extaordinary

This guy. I've been a lurker on VGC for a while, and have enjoyed my time as a member. There are some people here that are a cut above, and BenV is defintely an invaluable presence.

And I believe he's right on target here, yet again.

Destiny is going to be huge both stand alone and as a driver for PS4 sales. 5-6 million week one, 10 million by the end of 2014, 15-20 million lifetime. It's the next CoD, Activision/Sony will not let it fail

these are actual impressions of people who have played the alpha. those who were skeptical or optimistic about the game are all there giving their personal impressions and opinions.

and comeon man, you're linking to a thread about a game that very few select people in the industry have played...and your avatar clearly shows your love for the game. Suddenly any negative press toward Destiny spells doom and gloom? Both Xenoblade X and Destiny will be great games, and both games will be given flak whether it be Destiny's questionable cast of Dinklage or X's odd-looking face models. Stop trying to say no one cares when plenty of people do.

Yeah, I'm not sure which impressions he's reading, because he's certainly not talking about BenVTrigger's impressions and the vast majority of those responding in his thread on the Destiny Alpha.

Hell I'll man up and admit I didn't think Destiny was going to be a huge deal until recently. I vastly underestimated what would happen, and didn't know if Bungie still had it in them.

They wildly exceeded my expectations, and things will only get better working towards the final release.

To be honest, I was withholding my opinion on the game until I saw more of it.  Now having seen more I can see where this game could very well become a very very big franchise for Bungie.

Someone will surely be eating their hat come end of the year!

i was the same,  even watching the latest playthroughs prior to e3, but playing it yourself is a whole different ballgame,  experiencing the scale and intricacies on something that is simply an alpha and not even to beta yet,  leaves an odd feeling of wishing they had a product on shelves right now to buy. 

the world ia extremely detailed too,  lots of secret areas,  hidden loot and curiousities. 

just seems to me that the few that are hating on the game never intended to give it a chance in the first place either out of jealousy or bias to anothee game,  or simply have not played it yet.
