Forums - Sony - PS Vita defenitly doomed??

Do you think the sales figures from PS Vita will be better in future?

No, everyone want 3DS 171 43.07%

Yes, its a good Handheld 84 21.16%

Maybe, but nobody knows 68 17.13%

Maybe, but nobody cares 73 18.39%

Total:396

I think PS TV can possibly save it. I hope it vita does well. The lack of any news whatsoever on the platform this E3 is troubling.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Apple TV'S LIFE TIME TO DATE SALE THROUGH NUMBER

AS OF 2013

"TV market, CEO Tim Cook provided some new sales figures for the company's Apple TV set-top box. "For several years we were selling a few hundred thousand," Cook said. "We've now sold over 13 million. About half of those in the last year." That would mean the company has sold approximately 6.5 million units over the last 12 months. "That business has found many many more customers," Cook said. Apple has long described its Apple TV product as a "hobby.""

Tim Cook touts 20 million Apple TVs sold, disses Amazon's HBO deal

""We've sold now 20 million of the Apple TV. We've got a pretty large install base there and I feel quite good about that business and where it can go."

The "where it can go next" reference may hint at the long-rumored Apple iTV, though the set-top box is reportedly due for a Siri-incorporated fresh before the year is out."

But go look on news site's about Playstation TV and look at the coverage of it, Thats the point there is already a price point and a launch  time frame already set. the fact that the price point and telling whats inside the box already set to go the media did not even have to ask that Question,  the fact it is already set to go for launch, along with software that is ready to go right out of the box its already has content. plenty of it.

the fact they are now going to be able to sell this box on retail shelves right next to Apple, Amazon Roku means the PSVita as a platform is now being sold not just in games only platform section of a retail store that by default will increase the products software support due to now Playstation Vita is not just being sold as a handheld only! this move along with a starting price of $99.00 has on one side "forked" the platform from just a "game handheld" but on the same token the software is for the very same platform because both use the same UI, the very same memory cards, the  very same game card, and the very same network structure.

By forking the platform in effect Sony has relaunched the "Vita" platform but with a price friendly $99.00 price point, many may say what about the Standard PSVita?

the Stand PSVita can still be moved from Room to room , and can still get Playstation Now and Remote play, so what would it really matter that a new playstation Vita is called simply "Playstation TV" instead of having Vita in there to confuse the market that this new product is going into.

Sony has not pulled or stopped production on the standard PSVita, as a matter of fact they just released a new slim line PSvita recently.

I hope Vita TV helps vita's sales, but honestly Sony neglected the console.
Now I know, never buy a sony console until it has a decent userbase and support.

Did they even showed Freedom wars in the E3?

Thats it take your Jibe, keep at it, because unlike you it seems Sony's not giving up on the playstation Vita as a platform like so many gamer's it seems has.

The fact they are Relaunching the PSVita as Playstation TV with a starting price of $99.00

in a Market that Nintendo will or Microsoft will not have a presence in!

and Apple TV's and Google TV boxes like the Amazon Fire TV will now have a very strong contender for that part of the market a

"Playstation TV" on name alone may infact challenge Apple for the most purchased Box for the streaming content Box'es of Microso Consoles that sit under TV sets or Hell included right inside the TV itself.. IE" a Playstation TV included with a Bravia from the get Go.

Keep laughing go right ahead, while many people are so quick to write off this platform, Sony May have just disrupted a Market AREA Microsoft has tried and Apple, Google and every other comapny has tried and really faild to attain a real solid leadership role in that area, with Movie studios, music and now games is it any wonder D@n Loebe and other's wanted Sony to sell stock in the entertainment arm? its also any wonder Sony told them to take a Hike about offering the entertainment arm upfor sale!

So you and others can keep laughing and making your jibes about the the platform all you like Sony has indeed shown they are not giving up support for that platform, no matter how many times we keep people saying it, just like but..but its dead..lmao there is no way its going to survive, now going on three years and its still here, with now more investment into the platform.

I was referring more to this: http://news.cheatcc.com/articles/394159

"With Remote Play, Vita has now essentially become an extender or an enhancer for the main platform for other rooms in the house, or when someone else wants to use the main screen."

To me that sounds like giving up. Making a $200 console an accessory for people to use when the TV is busy. Basically saying that Sony will not bother making games for it. Every time someone asks them about games for Vita, the answer is: "There are plenty of games. On PS4, which you can play on your Vita".

Vita TV is a half-assed product that will do close to nothing on the market, the same way the other products have failed. If any company has a shot, it's Amazon. Vita TV has nobody to market to, except people who already have a Vita and would like to play the games on a big screen.

If I wanted something for another room to stream content, I might as well get a PS3. Or get Chromecast for a 3rd of the price. Because Vita TV is $99 only for the people who already have PS3 or PS4 and are in such family situation that their console is under the main TV, but they are often relegated to the room. Otherwise, new entrants are paying $140, they might as well buy an X360 and have a ton of apps and many games to choose from for the same price.

EDIT: 10 million? In a year? They will crap double rainbows if they are able to sell ONE million. Total! We have seen the incredible amount of interest Remote Play has garnered so far. 3,5 million PS4s sold in the US, and less than 100.000 Vitas in the same period. Most of which, I'm fairly certain, DO NOT use Remote Play. It's a great feature, but like Vita, is underrepresented and neglected.

Why did Sony even bother making the Vita? Did they assume that people would just buy it regardless of their supporting the system or not?

well... pokemon coming will probably do it. Espeically if they release special editions of the 3DS with it.

*wow, I just failed... I saw signature and replied to it XD*

Hello Party People,

the sales figures from PS Vita are extremly bad, do you think that PS Vita will have a longe live? I dont think so, but I hope. I never bought a Sony Product, but I dont want that Sony goes down. Everyone knows that sony has very much problems.

Define "Doomed."  It's gonna sell ~20 million and will make them a modest profit  (Unless Vita TV really takes off in the US).  It's nowhere near ideal, but I wouldn't really call it a failure considering how much the market has shrunk.

The 3DS is gonna sell 60m when the DS sold ~160m.  Is the 3DS a failure?

Well, it is still getting a lot of games.

Compared to what the Ouya lmao?

Compared to the 3DS. Or the WiiU.

haha oh right I forgot who I was talking to for a second. 3DS gets way more games than the Vita, in fact its has double the library of the Vita. Wii U, well we just saw all the games its getting at E3 and what Vita games did we see at E3 lol?
