Forums - Gaming - Gameplay demonstrations at the conferences....

Having seen the Xbox and EA conferences and now watching the Ubisoft conference, and my experiences from previous years, i have really begun to find these lengthy gameplay demonstrations on stage to be quite annoying.

I find them to be uninteresting and just a time waster, also it does not help that most of them are pre-recorded videos of gameplay with a guy just standing on the stage with a controller pretending to play.

what do you guys think about these type of gameplay demonstrations?

I personally would want them to be shorter because a lot of I find quite boring after more than 2-3 minutes.

I do admit that some are a bit long but I would rather see gameplay even if it is a bit boring rather than CGI cause at least that way, I know how the game will look and feel when it comes out rather than the game looking nothing like the CGI trailer

don't get me wrong, i would not have the conferences without the gameplay i just wish the demonstrations were shorter and more to the point.

I agree, I'm not that big of a fan. I never was at the Nintendo conferences either. Though those rarely went well anyway...

I'd like to see gameplay, but there must be a better way to do it. Maybe shorter demos and some highlights videos using verified gameplay footage. With a bit of talk about some of the big mechanics in action. Save the true demos for the stage floor and developer interviews. I don't like watching people on stage pretend like they're playing the game minute on end. Especially when they sometimes do multiplayer games and the players are supposed to banter with each other... awful.

Less gameplay at a game conference? Get out.

I would prefer if there was just no random guy pretending to play... We get it, you want to prove it's actually being played on X or Y platform, but I want to see the damm footage, not a dude!

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I'm fine with it as long as they don't zoom out to the guy. I want to see the game not this random dude.

As long as the game is good I dont see the problem.

Not necessarily less gameplay just shorter showcases, so we could have shorter conferences that are more to the point and not filled with fluff.

Well at least the conferences this year aren't dragged out to three hours like a few years ago.

Yep.
