If Retro is working on Metoid and it's shown, then Metoid has best visuals.
It's sci-fi enough so gritty realism isn't needed, and you can use artistic style to overcome a system's limitations. The original Prime games looked amazing for their time, and Retro has a history of making games look beautiful.

Yeah, Doom 4 may surprise us all. People tend to forget that it used to be that corridor shooters were best showcases for engines.
I don't think we have any reason to doubt Naughty Dog here, not only has their work repeatedly set the bar high, the ICE team comprises several Naughty Dog devs, so they're bound to have the most up to date/bleeding edge tech packed into their game already. Of course, I could be wrong :)
