Intrinsic said: Motion controls aren't compulsory with VR. We just dont know if they would let you use the headset like a traditional TV. But even in Vr though you could use your controller. No PC demo of VR has anyway exerting themselves, I think they actually encourage you to be in a seated position. Its the sony version that can use expansive motion controls cause they had a camera and the move controlers. |
I hope you can watch 3D BluRays with them. If I can wrap the Avengers around my eyeballs I will be a very happy person.

Removing you from the environment may be what it is meant to do but that still causes issues in reality world. Getting wrapped up in your wires, memorising the control positions and never letting go unless you want to knock them over while fumbling to find them again, not being able to eat or drink without it's removal. Not being able to see what children and pets are up to could lead to tons of issues all on it's own. Sure most of that can be solved by a large clean mostly clear space or supervision but those will also only limit it's possible audience even more. Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head that you get by cutting you off from the environment.
That doesn't even begin to mention that headset will be bulkier and heavier than a pair of 3d glasses.

People like different things than you, are you really that self centered that you can't understand that? Like I said earlier, if you don't like it don't do it. Where does all this hate and venom come from wanting it to fail? That's not a normal healthy response to not liking something. You make it sound like VR killed your puppy and skull fucked the corpse. |
Listen, Jack, nobody said a damn thing about "wanting it to fail". 3D is already "failing" on it's own, as the passing fad that it is. And VR will pass like the fad it is too. And since when is me posting my own opinion on something (aka the exact same thing you do), equate to being "self-centered"? Grow up, and realize that some people have strong opinions that differ from yours, and that the mature mind is supposed to be able to handle that kind of thing in life, without freaking out or reducing the conversation to insults. Cheers.
Neither 3D nor VR actually failed or underwhelmed, just their implementations up until now did. Future implementations could eventually become a lot more viable for what concerns price, practicalness, HW requirements and comfort of use and finally succeed. Or they could fail again, but this cannot be predicted basing oneself on previous implementations that failed in one or more important aspects, on the contrary, their failure due to one or more critical flaws should make us lean towards success for their successors that manage to fix them. Obviously after a big flop, some time is needed before launching a new implementation, to avoid that people still pissed-off spread too much negative world-of-mouth.

You did say you wanted it to fail. Don't lie. You said it would fade out and "Thank God for that." And I didn't say having an opinion is self centered I said that saying you can't imagine anyone having an opposing opinion than your own is self centered. You said you don't find it exciting and you don't understand how it garners excitement from anyone. So if you don't like something your mind can't fathom how anyone could?
Nothing about your post was mature. We were having a mature conversation and you came in and took a big steamy dump all over it. So yes, I picked up some of your shit and threw it back at you.
